By the time they reach high school, nearly 20 percent of all American boys will be diagnosed with ADHD. Millions of those boys will be prescribed a powerful stimulant to "normalize" them. A great many of those boys will suffer serious side effects from those drugs.

The world is steadily being conquered by the most utterly humorless cunts.

[–]dallz_beep 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They wonder why we call them cunts.

Yet in every single TV ad the average boyfriend or dad is a smelly, unhealthy, and snoring beer chugger, which is of course OK.

Feminist cancer is firmly entrenched in the Tech industry. Watch it stagnate and die off for a while.

[–]ibuprofiend 41 points42 points43 points 12 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Feminism is invading the tech industry. Women see money and headlines to be made, so now they're trying to get a portion of what those "creeps," nerds, and losers spent their lives building.

And betas within the industry are letting it happen because their target customers are young people who believe in this shit ("equality," "diversity," etc).

It would be so easy for an attractive girl to coast through a CS or engineering degree, getting help from her male classmates to prevent her from failing, and then land a 6 figure job in Silicon Valley to fill a diversity quota.

The whole situation sickens me.

[–]trajanconquers89[🍰] 23 points24 points25 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm in a CS program and that's the exact attitude I saw from all the girls in the class. They always got some guy to do their shit for them.

[–]rplearn5 points 12 years ago [recovered] (11 children) | Copy Link

Not much alpha cock among cs degree seekers. Maybe that's why women do not get cs degrees. But really, you find all kinds of incompetent people with meaningless jobs who end up with degrees. Resume VS performance is highly variable. Note the movie office space. Many people with jobs have no impact on amything.

People bs their way into jobs they are not qualified for all of the time. I know i try to. Don't get hung up on others' undeserved success.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago* (10 children) | Copy Link

CS is a special case. It attracts soo many more men than women that the few that end up there can basically coast through the rest of their life for simply choosing that major. Their assignments and projects are routinely done by betas (even I am guilty of this back then... hey it was the only time I got to talk to a pretty girl in a long while).

The few girls that ended up in that program were AGGRESSIVELY pursued and bestowed scholarships, made up positions, awards and other honorary titles (things like Microsoft's campus ambassador, CS society leader, agile development advocate etc). Every SINGLE one of them... even the ones literally failing courses were given these things.

Fast forward to coop/graduation time... without fail, the first ones to get offers were the few shitty female graduates. One particular example is this girl I had as a partner in a 4th year course. The bitch was so useless that after trying to help her for countless hours I did the WHOLE project myself and got her to clean up the documentation that I wrote. I am not sure how she ever passed the exam. This girl was of course the recipient of a female only scholarship despite much better financial condition and shit GPA. Guess what? Upon graduation, this bitch somehow scored a dev position at Microsoft in Redmond with what I presume to be a 6figure starting salary. According to linked in she is now a development manager at a company in SF and its only been 3.5 years since we graduated.

[–]rredfox 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I know I don't speak for all female developers but I am pretty good at what I do. I might not be the best, but I work hard and generally do well. Does my gender give me some sort of edge? Perhaps, but at the same time I read stories about cs women taking advantage of those perks and my experience is nothing like that. Did I get help in classes? Sure, at the beginning when I had never programmed before I asked for help. But by the time I graduated two weeks ago, I have become a pretty good developer. I don't do it for the money and I don't think the challenges and struggles I face should be delegated to someone else because I can't do it. I can and will tackle any problem and try my best, and my best is usually very good.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

I never said there are no good female developers (although they are extremely rare I have met a few). But that does nothing to negate the fact that the females that end up in this field get treated like royalty.

[–]rredfox 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I am not trying to negate it, really. Do you know how offensive it is when people assume you are a bad developer or that you only got where you are because of your gender? The flip side to most women gliding through the system because they can is that it reduces the credibility of all women. I have to prove myself because other devs will think like you do. Sure some women don't have to prove themselves to interviewers and managers. But I want to be respected by my colleagues. People won't respect me if they think I am a bad Dev and got here because I'm a woman. I am not really complaining because luckily no one has said (to my face) that I don't need to work as hard because I am a girl - as if I even want that privilege.

Really it doesn't matter I just wish more women worked hard. I am just as annoyed with women as you are. From your perspective they get perks you can't get. From mine they reduce the credibility of my own achievements. Both of them suck and because of our gender they it feels like they suck equally. Men care more about being successful and making money whereas women care more about what others think of them. I do sympathize for men because the system is wrong and rewards poor behavior. But it also hurts the good women because we are always worries our success won't be taken seriously by others.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sure there are disadvantages to being given preferential treatment but the advantages far outweigh them. To use an analogy, sure it sucks to be more susceptible to robbery but it is still better to be rich enough to be worth being robbed.

Even if you are competent, you will still get more and better opportunities because of your gender.

You might think that I am angry at women but I am really not. If I was one I would take these perks too without question. It isn't reasonable to expect anyone to turn down what's immediately good for them. What I am angry at is the bullshit concept of affirmative action and quotas. Either way, things balance out in the long run... even if they do score an undeserved position... bcz of lack of skill many of the freeloaders end up switching fields anyway.

[–]rredfox 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True. I don't think I'm a victim at all. I do prefer the perks it is nice. But I still hope it was because I earned it. Accomplishments mean a lot to me.

[–]TRP VanguardCyralea 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Do you know how offensive it is when people assume you are a bad developer or that you only got where you are because of your gender?

You have feminists to thank for this one. Things like female-only scholarships and gendered hiring quotas are precisely the reason why us IT industry veterans roll our eyes when we see a female hire. For every competent female like you there are 20 that are coasting because of their privilege.

To this day I have only ever met one competent woman in this field, and a staggering number of incompetent ones. All you can do is ignore the (well-placed) criticism of your gender and rise above it. Prove to others that you're different. People criticize your gender for people who are not like you, so don't take it so personally.

[–]rredfox 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I definitely don't take it personally. I have proven my worth and such. I also recognize that the combination of being a woman AND being good at what I do, means I can easily get any job I want. I will have a very successful career because I am driven, smart, and also in the minority. Its exciting so I am happy about it. I am pretty lucky.

[–]the_real_chronos 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

In this industry, everyone has to prove themselves anyway. Though your argument is very respectable.

[–]rredfox 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You are right. I think there is something else about being a woman that puts extra pressure on me to perform really well lest others think I got where I am not because of my brain but because of my boobs....

But I understand EVERYONE needs to prove their worth. Being a Dev isnt something people should take lightly. Do it right or don't do it at all.

[–]the_real_chronos 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There is that extra pressure, though should you prove yourself you will be awarded with even greater respect - so it balances off.

Quality women, are after all increasingly hard to find.

[–]Idle_Redditing 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, chicks have that option in STEM courses and jobs. Yet they still leave at massive rates for some reason.

[–]redpillspeeddate 14 points15 points16 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Oddly enough it was in a presentation 9 months ago, was tweeted then. No one said anything. Shows how much things can change. I have a buddy who was there and he said nobody in the room was offended, but 1 guy tweeted it that was followed by a tumblr feminist and well... You can see what happened. The good news is the company is a solid one, didn't throw the guy under the bus and took it on the chin rather than pandering to the masses.

[–]87GNX 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah that's a kickass response. Parse five paragraphs of PC pandering and it's basically "this guy is ours and we are going to protect him so fuck off."

[–]SariaLystra 16 points17 points18 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

my girlfriend != all women.

Why are women so upset? Are they projecting?

[–]juicy_truth 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Solipsism is a bitch.

[–]1Zanford 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yep. This is how you know AWALT. B/c they always assume 'criticizing one woman' = 'criticizing womena s a group'.

When you're catching flack, you're over the target.

The presenter should have pretended to be gay and made the slide about 'my boyfriend'. Then he would have been untouchable.

Well, unless they found out he was straight. Then he would lose his job for 'homophobia'.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is exactly what I was thinking. At no point does this guy throw women in general under the bus.

[–]Vanster10114 points 12 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Looked like a simple metaphor to lighten up a presentation. Wow some people will seize whatever pathetic opportunity they can.

[–]JoCoLaRedux 9 points10 points11 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Seize the opportunity is right. It's a harmless, dumb joke that's akin to Castkills era humor ("Take my wife, please!")They're not genuinely offended, but they recognize it as an opportunity to pretend to be offended.

[–]thebears1986 11 points12 points13 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I can't wait for the day when feminists learn boats are named after women and float like fat people in the Dead Sea.

[–]1neveragoodtime 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How is that slide offensive to anyone but his girlfriend? She probably saw that and said, yeah, I do complain a lot. Now, if he said, "Maven is like all bitches, pretentious sluts. Amirite?" Then I could see a case. Complaining about one girl is now complaining about all femaledom.

[–]nataliieportman 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fucking feminists bitch over everything. It's ridiculous. Girls need a strong father to end that entitled bullshit.

[–]Aalewis__ 15 points16 points17 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Seriously? People get that offended over something this meaningless and retarded?

[–]ibuprofiend 23 points24 points25 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bro, have you ever met a feminist?

[–]SariaLystra 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I chose CS precisely because it had very few percentage of women. And now this bullshit comes up.

Is there a college major where I don't have to fucking put up with women's bullshit?

wait a min, didn't he compare an object to a human? wouldn't that mean he was trying to humanize an object instead of the other way around? and what is the difference between that and an ad that makes fun of men being bad drivers, reckless daredevils, etc?

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Guy makes joke about how women complain a lot and demand attention.

Women complain about it and demand attention.

[–]Endorsed ContributorrebuildingMyself 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's only okay to bash, poke fun at, or tease the target if its a white male. Because privilege or something

If I read that sub before my lift, I tend to lift more due to rage. Read it for the gainz, brah

[–]build_a_me 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Why aren't people choosing to get upset and fight against actual cultural issues such as poverty and exploitation by NOT buying clothes and shoes made by what amounts to slave labor? Or by avoiding buying technology that is made by people in shit living conditions? Why get all upset about someone's (accurate) joking opinion of some women? Some people have too much time to care about small fries.

[–]bertstare10 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sorry, it's America 2014, you are not allowed to joke or make a joke unless and only unless it is about a white male.

[–]FortunateBum 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Classic mistake.

Never ever ever ever complain about anything ever.

See, we guys hear women bitching about everything all the time day in and day out. We hear this feminist BS about how we should treat everyone equal, as individuals, as humans, so we get the idea we can share our feelings, be vulnerable, complain like women.

BULL SHIT.

If you're a man, you are disposable. You are a piece of shit that speaks when spoken to. When told to jump, you jump. When told to fall on your sword, you fall on your sword or face the consequences.

When you complain, you open yourself up to being attacked. I've seen it time and time again. A man can never benefit from complaining. A woman? Of course. That's what feminism is in essence. One long complaint. And look how much they've accomplished.

[–]slcjosh 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That shit is funny as hell. I wish people would just shut the fuck up and relax. sigh.

[–]Endorsed ContributorrebuildingMyself 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Especially since men have to sit there and be the butt of jokes all the time. God forbid women can take what they dish out constantly

[–]1Zanford 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Presenter: 'my girlfriend complains a lot, gets upset over small things'.

Female response: much complaining and upset and NAWALT

Isn't it ironic, don't ya think?

[–]DarkSayed 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Is Maven like Siri?

Anyway, you can easily imagine a gender reversal and the ensuing laughs it would cause.

I don't even see why this is considered sexist. It has nothing to do with gender.

EDIT:

In the presentation, he threw up a slide about Maven, a plugin execution framework

The man's an idiot.

[–]1PaulRivers10 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

EDIT:

In the presentation, he threw up a slide about Maven, a plugin execution framework

The man's an idiot.

I think it was the female commenter who called it a plugin execution framework, not the guy who did the presentation.

[–]juicy_truth 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Since when did BusinessInsider become so blue pill? Pretty sure many of their readers don't give two fucks about gender sensitivity.

[–]1PaulRivers10 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As usually it's about a power struggle.

Women feel that it's perfectly fine to constantly post about "men" being rapists, "men" being sexist, etc.

This guy just wrote the same kind of thing, except towards women, and as always they had a fit over it.

The difference is only in the gender. If it benefits their gender it's fine, if it says something bad about their gender they have a fit.

[–]Nieben 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So if the slide was about comparing his boyfriend everything would be OK?

It has absolutely nothing to do with sexism. It's his sexual preference that he's with a woman and these are negative things his SO does - something that isn't being labelled as "something a female does".

Fucking brainless sheep of twats jumping on a self-righteous chariot bandwagon.

I understand a lot of journalism/blogging has to do with shock/awe type bullshit, but really? These people must be desperate to try and label this man as sexist when he's merely making a joke at his SO's expense.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I fail to see how it can be sexist; it doesn't make an explicit generalisation.....

[–]cat-tasrophic 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Not the best decision on his part.

He needs some situational awareness.

[–]1dick-opotamus 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It was a very ungraceful way to communicate his message but sacrificing this guy to the gods of political correctness seems harsh. To be forgiven he must say 100 hail Dworkins and kiss the ring of the pope of Feminism.

[–]cat-tasrophic 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree, but him doing it and then us saying "he shouldn't be prosecuted for that" is the kind of thing that women do.

Like if they don't get offered enough salary.. "I deserve more money than this."

We can work to change the culture but it should be of no surprise to anyone (including the employee) that people were upset when he used gender stereotypes in a negative fashion. Just saying "he shouldn't be punished so severely" really isn't doing anything except intensifying the viewpoint of the feminists.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He is lucky this was not a slide about PHP.
