Summary

There are many truths in boxing / competitive fighting that draw direct parallels to the alpha way of life. (I boxed for 20 years, and coached for 7. There are so many lessons in fighting that bleed over to life.)

Body

"Fighter" can be replaced with "an alpha" in pretty much all cases, and the lesson applies.

A Fighter never feels bad for himself:

In the ring, you will be hurt, exhausted, potentially humiliated... the crowd will cheer. The crowd wants to see a fighter get hurt. No one will feel bad for you.

You will wake up at 6 a.m. for roadwork, you will feel like shit every morning. No one will feel bad for you.

If you get dropped with a body shot, even your coach will laugh. At that moment you have a choice.

You can feel bad for yourself, or you can fight.

As a fighter, you choose to step in to a violent world. Vicious dudes will be trying to hurt you. You step in the ring because you choose it. Feeling bad for yourself is for the fat dudes in the crowd who will never have the balls to glove up.

Be a predator and get the girl. Let her orbiters cry in their pillows as they imagine her fucking you.

Warriors don't get to choose when they fight:

As boxers, we pride ourselves on being warriors. Well, the primitive warriors didn't get to choose a fight day. If the tribe was attacked, you fought, or you died. If your tribe survived the attack, and you didn't fight, they kicked you out of the tribe. If you choose to be a warrior (alpha), you accept that you will never feel 100% on "fight day" (or in pickup, no approach will ever feel perfect).

You are predator, or you are prey:

I coached a few boxers who fought "not to lose." If they survived the fight without being hurt, they were happy. Such guys rarely won (if ever).

If you want to eat meat, you have to commit to killing your prey.

Very often in the ring, the deciding factor is simply this: the more vicious fighter wins.

Be a wolf, not a sheep.

By stepping across that line, you become one of very few:

So many men wish they had the balls / commitment / discipline to get in the ring. Very few do it. Once you step across that line, your life is changed forever.

I love the Chuck Palaniuk quote in Fight Club: "After fighting, everything else in life got the volume turned down."

Some attractive chick bitching at you because you showed up 20 minutes late won't even blip on your radar, after you spent the evening sparring a professional heavyweight.

More toward the Red Pill: if you truly feel like an alpha, you have proven to YOURSELF who you are. Outside opinions need not apply.

Impose your will:

In judging a boxing round, the primary criteria is "effective aggression." You must have an effect on your opponent. Being a timid defender is a losing strategy. Pure counter-punching is a losing strategy. Dancing around the ring looks flashy, but it doesn't mean shit if you don't hurt your opponent. You have to take a fucking risk. Step forward and impose your will on your opponent.

Another alpha truth (I am preaching to the choir). Imposing your will is quite literally the alpha behavior we covet. To have an affect, you must take a risk. No risk, no reward.

The only way to stop the pain, is to fight If you give in, the beating will continue. The only person who can save you is you.

I used to teach my boxers: the best way to make them stop hitting you, is to hit THEM

I strongly recommend reading Ender's Game. The primary lesson the teachers instill in Ender is that no one will save him. Only Ender can save himself.

Summary

I have found so many parallels between competitive fighting, and the alpha lifestyle. For example: "Women don't give a shit about your feelings," and "chicks dig jerks."

Be proud, become a predator, and eat meat tonight.
