I have found that buying--or better--making a woman food is pleasurable. It's similar to the pleasure of a woman wearing my pajama bottoms and a t-shirt of mine that fits her oddly. GS Elevator never (seriously) pretended to be from an actual current GS employee. The real author was a longtime bulge bracket finance guy, and the point of the Twitter feed / website / book is to sometimes lovingly mock, and sometimes ambivalently admire, the grew-up-at-a-good-gentile-country-club, played-lax-at-Dartmouth ethos of a certain kind of banker, and to cause finance people who aren't in that demographic (nerds of any descent, hustlers from the sticks, kids of Asian and Jewish doctors) to reflect on what portion of that ethos still has value.

I disagree about the shotgun thing:

I'm much more likely to hold on to a family-heirloom hand-engraved pistol (like a Smith & Wesson M586) than a large engraved shotgun. I'm also less likely to be tempted to go and shoot it at the skeet range.
