How To Wake Up At 5AM Without Getting Tired

So how can we start waking up at 5 AM? In this video I will be going over 5 different things that you can do to ensure that you wake up at 5 AM without any problems.

Method 5: Change your mindset in regards to waking up early

The first step in waking up early involves making a shift in your mindset. Don’t think about waking up early, but instead think about going to sleep earlier. Assuming that you sleep for the same duration each night, going to sleep earlier will allow you to get up earlier.

When we think about waking up early (especially at 5 AM) a lot of negative thoughts and resistance can plague our minds. These negative thoughts about waking up early could hinder our progress. If we want to make this a habit we must remove this block and focus on the much easier task of going to bed earlier. In order to allow for a smooth transition, I suggest going to sleep 10-20 minutes earlier each night. Don’t forget to set your alarm to ring 10-20 minutes earlier each morning as well. Do this for a couple of days until you are able to wake up at 5 AM without much struggle.

Some people like to dive into the deep end and just set their alarms for 5 AM straight away. I do not suggest you take this approach because you will wake up feeling tired. We are trying to make a habit of waking up early here so patience is key.

Method 4: Have an evening routine to help you wake up early.

An evening routine is a set of activities that you do before you go to bed. These activities should all help to facilitate in falling asleep easier. You can choose a range of things for your evening routine but personally, I like the following.

  • Cold showers: These will make you feel refreshed and will have you ready to dive into your warm sheets, trust me you will sleep like a baby and wake up at 5 AM with ease.

  • Meditation: Slows down the chaos in your mind and keeps you relaxed enough to fall asleep with ease.

  • Reading: Gets your eyes tired and will help you go to sleep much easier.

  • White noise/ binaural beats: Creates an ambience that will allow for you to get some awesome sleep.

Method 3: Remove things that impair your sleep

If you are serious about waking up at 5 AM you need to remove the things that are blocking your sleep. I suggest you don’t drink coffee or anything that contains caffeine after 12 PM. I used to take pre-workout supplements and this would ruin my chance of getting a good night’s rest.

Do not eat large meals before bed or drink excessive amounts of water. These things will keep your stomach working to digest the food which will keep you awake. Drinking lots of water will have you running to the toilet in the middle of the night. If you want to wake up early consistently you must always be keeping this in the back of your mind.

Method 2: Black out your room / Get of electronics

The LED standby lights on your TV and other gadgets can make it very difficult for you to go to sleep. Make sure you black out your room by covering all these lights with Bluetack or sticky tape. Electronic gadgets can also make it very hard for us to go to sleep and in turn wake up early. I suggest you stop using all your electronics at least 1 hour before you go to sleep. This will help your mind ease into getting ready for sleep. These lights can trick our brains into thinking that’s daytime and hence keep us awake. If we stay awake, there is no way in hell that we can wake up early!

Method 1: Leave your alarm clock out of arms reach

Perhaps the biggest reason most people fail at waking up early is due to the dreaded snooze button. When you first wake up in the morning you will often be too tired to resist the urge of ‘five more minutes’, but we all know that five more minutes ends up being another hour or two. To avoid this there is a simple fix. Set multiple alarms and keep your alarm out of arms reach.

This method will force you to get up out of bed. Getting out of bet is 80% of the battle, it’s the initial inertia that keeps us in bed. Once we can overcome this waking up early will be a breeze. Eventually, 5 AM will be your normal wake-up time if you follow these methods. Good Luck!
