If this is is true, that a woman makes $.77 to every $1 a man makes whys isn't there a huge hiring gap favoring female hires, especially so in public companies? If all things are equal why not hire the woman at a 33% discount?

If you run a for profit company your two main and intertwined goals are to make a product or service generating as much profit as possible in the economic environment. The workforce cost savings would be huge to hire only women.

I'd love to hear a valid answer on this that doesn't simply blame "patriarchy".

EDIT: Grammar

EDIT 2: /u/whatsazipper found this article in Time that not only refutes this "gap", it shows men are making less, but makes it sound like a loss for Feminism.

Here is a great quote from the article:

Here's the slightly deflating caveat: this reverse gender gap, as it's known, applies only to unmarried, childless women under 30 who live in cities.

I love how it's framed like a bad thing. Guess what you make sacrifices, go to the job centers you have equality. Add have affirmative action in your favor and you are now ahead of the game.

What more could you ask for? Play the same way and have a handicap applied, to use a sport metaphor since being a gender isn't an actual medical handicap, and poof you're making out. Is that not what Feminism asked for?
