it might be worth going to a different doctor and telling them you already have 2 kids with 2 different women and you know for sure you don't want/can't afford anymore. I doubt they will check. and even if they do, there is always another doctor that will happily take your money.

Doctors can refuse to treat you. He's protecting himself from a potential future lawsuit.

Call other urologic clinics until you find one who will do the procedure.

The reason he won't treat you is similar to the reason that a lot of tattoo artists won't give you a tattoo on your face. They've encountered too many people who have changed their mind or regretted the choice, and they either don't want to deal with your bullshit, or have you badmouthing them for "doing that" to you, or getting sued.

At the end of the day, you don't have a right to receive non-life sustaining medical treatment. If you are that deadset on getting a vasectomy, shop around until you find a doc who will do it. Beware though: most reputable doctors will not snip a man your age. This leaves you dealing with less experienced/less reputable doctors to perform the procedure.

Some states in the South had this going on for decades. (e.g. North Carolina) To get welfare you had to be sterilized. Ended having a ton of kids being supported by the taxpayers. Later some people tried to sue the state. It was a fucking joke. Voluntary choice to take the welfare in exchange of sterilization.

In my country you need to be at least 35 with 2 kids, otherwise you need to be 40years old plus. If you are married, you need your wife's signature too. Imo that's absolutely reasonable.

I understand your point of view and you are obviously entitled to pay for the procedure you want done to your body. Especially a procedure that is legally performed and offered as a service.

I am not trying to convince you of otherwise but have you heard of Vasalgel? I don't believe it has gotten to the market just yet but it's supposed to (don't quote me on the details) be a product that will make you temporarily sterile as long as you use it. That way you can keep the possibility of getting a child if you ever would get a feeling that you'd like to. And while you don't, you can stay sterile without repercussion. It might come to the market in a year or two but it would completely remove the need for a vasectomy unless there is no doubt one would never want kids.

See if your doc is associated with a religious system. We have a catholic system in my area who will deny you control over reproduction and mask it as a medical opinion when you can go to the SAME DOC once they arent affiliated and they will do it.

Be sure to do an internet search for the doctor's name and see if he's on a health care provider review site, so you can leave a negative review and warn others.

I ran across one of those sites when searching a doctor's/dermatologists name out of curiosity, before scheduling an appointment, and I was glad I did--people get a chance to be warned about things like this, bad attitudes, etc.

I had the same experience. I tried to get a vasectomy in my 20s, and was refused.

I got one in my mid 30s finally. What was bullshit was I had to demonstrate that I had a partner and bring her to the appointment, and she (not even my wife, just a gf) had to fucking consent as well. WTF?!

This was in Ontario, Canada.

My advice: Go back in a year, and tell him that if you don't get one from him you've got an appointment lined up in Mexico. If he doesn't budge, go get it done someplace else.

OP if a Doc won't give you one do it yourself. Take a pair of stainless steel scissors and cut right below the left and right sides of your shaft. Best thing I ever did.

The bleeding stops after about 8 hours and the scab takes over a month to form. I'm still pissing bright orange but it's worth it.

On a more serious note, consider waiting until you're 30 or at least have 150k US for a potential surrogate. It's about 20k overseas in India I've read. You can have a child without the hassle of a woman and get a vasectomy if you play your cards right.

Could consider freezing your seed too but they have an expiration date so think wisely. Look deep and determine if you really want kids or not and act accordingly.

I'm never going to be able to wrap my head around two modern concepts:

Getting a Vasectomy while presently having no children.
Accepting a Cuckoldry situation.

It's just too strange for me.

My preferred choice was to have ten kids (always joked about that) but at 55 years old I can honestly say I never met a woman I had a high enough opinion of to have kids with.

The idea of paying for vasectomies is a very valid one. I, for one, would like to see such a program put in place when the vasagel gets approved (injection of 'glue' in the vas deferenes to block sperm indefinitely). Imagine the positive social implications: pay young folks $500 or $1000 to have the procedure. Want to get it reversed? Submit to a financial/drug/employment test to ensure you're not a degenerate and you're approved.
