I use facebook often and, at least here in brazil, i see a lot of male shaming going on when a guy tries to white knight. In third world countries women are still being idolized. My theory for this is that third world people are in general uneducated and backwards. I agree to a certain extent. I think the advent of social media was a serious wake up call for a lot of dudes.

Our generation was the first. We went through our awkward myspace and facebook stages where we didn't know what to do. Here, for the first time in ever, women we knew and were interested in were posting photos and thoughts on this network where we were encouraged to like, comment and talk with them. So what did we do? Try to get their attention in every way possible.

It's still around, new kids and such, but there are guys who have run the gauntlet and learned. And the more of those types out there, the more they can teach the younger generations what not to do.

Memes like "m'lady" are more than just memes, they represent cultural shifts in thinking.

Idk if anyone remembers how bad it used to be. Myspace and early facebook were beta cringe factories. It still happens, but nowhere near as much as it used to. The cringe has shifted from "ur hot" to feminist empowerment bullshit. Single mothers, pregnant teens, etc etc. People these days get praised for "being strong," not being hot.

It's actually pretty hysterical watching women on facebook hit the wall over time.

There is a chick I knew in high school. We were never close but she remained a mutual friend in my social circle. She was maybe an 8 back then. (Late 90s) Great body, good face.

She's mid 30s now and just had a baby last year. About 3 months after the baby was born she absolutely started spamming Facebook with selfies. Trying to look as cute/sexy as possible. (Keep in mind her husband and child are not in any of these new pics).

She wasnt getting any love though, so one day, she got an app for her phone. I don't know what it's called but apparently it automatically adds effects to the picture (Changes the hair/eye color, makes it look like she had makeup on, etc.

So this heavily edited picture actually gets some male attention.. and guess what happens next? She proceeds to upload at least 10 more pictures within the next couple of hours. All selfies made with the app. "Ooohhhh how do I look with red hair?!" Blatant attention whoring behavior. Thankfully nobody was responding and she eventually stopped.

You know the saying, a flame flickers brightest right before it burns out? You can flames burn out all the time on facebook. Suddenly all the selfies dissapear and pictures of their holiday decorations, kids or meals they cooked start popping up instead. Anything to get the attention back.
