From a biological perspective, it's not odd at all when you consider that a woman's prime mating age is her 20's and by our 40's our eggs are pretty much dried up. So it makes sense that men would be less interested in us because there technically isn't a point to it once we are that old.

Another major contributing factor is that while women in their 20's might not come across as nuts, many women between the ages of 35 and 45 really are nuts. In my experience, it happens again during menopause - mid 50s. On the whole, women in their 20s and early 30s might want more from you, but are manageable compared to the typical woman in her late 30s to mid 40s.

Very narrow window of relative sanity with women.
