I've debated with Amy Alkon before (the writer of this column) and she asked me to not comment on her forum anymore.

Her socio-biological opinion on women's reasoning for being more "choosy" because they make babies is largely common belief even amongst red-pillers but consider that during the ancient days of humanity, pre-civilization, women largely gathered food on their own and hence they were taken by aggressive men (bad boys) or bribed with food (the oldest professional). Modern dating does appear to mimic these conditions.

But... since say ancient civilization onward, women didn't get to choose their mates in this fashion. The first societies were run by family patriarchies (the alpha males) and women were allocated according to the male patriarchs, typically the father (hence that awkward scene in The Bachelor where the guy asks yet another father for permission to marry his daughter, if he picks her.)

At no time in human history, up to now, were women accorded social and physical protection via a welfare state and legal rights AND able to engage in sexual hypergamy. In pre-civilization, if a lion or opposition tribe grabbed a woman, he wouldn't risk his neck white knighting to protect her so she could shag a bad-boy caveman.
