I’ve taken a break from dating, and accepted the possibility that I’ll probably never get married because I don’t want to settle. I’ve done that long enough and I am happier single, but part of me is still a hopeless romantic.

When I see couples on Instagram I feel physically ill and bitter. I tend to compare myself to the girls on there, they’re usually seemingly perfect, fashionable and happy, then I think to myself “no wonder no one wants me”.

I can’t imagine a world where a guy I want, wants me enough to post me online, take me places and invite me into his world. I clearly need time to focus on myself and that’s what I’m doing, but the bitterness is turning me into a hopeless romantic “Scrooge”.

Any advice? Thanks!
