Why is this so accurate? Have men always been like this?

Why do men “not want a relationship” because of a breakup ages ago, but women are still willing to seek real connections and love despite the amount of horror we’ve gone through?

Make sure you are his first option. Men can fake and pretend you’re his #1 because they’re lonely, when in fact you aren’t the one they want.

It should be that simple. I’ve had a guy literally do all of these things, then proceed to say he doesn’t want us to be “official”.

No you don’t. I “dated” like a man (if you can even call it dating) in my twenties because I was emotionally dead and while there is a hedonistic sense of self satisfaction and mental escape, it’s not emotionally healthy and it’s self destructive. As soon as I started working on my childhood abuse and reconnecting with my feelings and inner vulnerable self, I had to (wanted to) stop because I realized just how bad it was. That’s why I wholeheartedly believe that any man that operates like this is not worth fucking with, and will not change without it heavy therapy. You have to be dead inside to do what most of them do. Having experienced both, I’ll take how I am now any day.

My own father and uncles told me most men have bad intentions and are not as "pure" as women. This is why I honestly believe why MGWTO/INCELS exist. They know deep down that they are shit. Women no longer depending on men for survival kills them inside because that's the only way they can get us, hence their anger and hatred intensifying.

[–]EclecticBarbarellaFDS Disciple 76 points77 points78 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

MGTOW is 100% redirected hate, they have zero control over their desires and urges for women and they turn that hate onto us because it’s easier than doing a searching moral inventory and working on areas they’re lacking. They literally think they’re brave men resisting the “siren song” (their words). We’re not magical temptresses, they just can’t control their dick. It’s a scary mentality when you realize they’re essentially not in control of themselves.

This is exactly what my therapist said when I got divorced and my ex husband just wasn’t sad at all. I told her I wanted his ability to straight up not care about an entire marriage, and she said no you don’t.

So do you think a man announcing he has no criminal record is a LVM move? I’ve seen men put that on their dating app profiles and to me it comes across as “I’m a dick, I just haven’t been arrested for it yet.”

It makes me wonder about what kind of company he keeps!

My daughter said her 6th form English teacher said in front of the whole class the other day, that most men are horrible but there are a few good ones and the lads in the class agreed. Whilst I agree with her I was surprised she dare say it in front of the whole class.

[–]dzgataFDS Disciple 97 points98 points99 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Men (not on reddit) are usually the first to admit that most men are horrible. Even on twitter women constantly tweet it and rarely is there some sort of backlash. Because everyone knows it’s true. Reddit is a weird place.

[–]BovvsetteFDS Disciple 81 points82 points83 points 5 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

It's true, that's why overprotective father trope is so common (if he's even present in the daughter's life in the first place), he tries to scare and vet the suitors too, because he knows. That's why some people fear having girls, not because there's anything wrong with her (although there are morons stuck in Dark Ages believing having sons is better and more manly), but because of their future having to deal with men and misogyny. And the father knows it, likely he participated in making off-handed misogynistic jokes, sexualizing, objectifying and mocking women, taking advantage of one and never ever stopping his friends from doing these things either. He knows about nature of boys because he himself helped normalization of nightmare life for girls today happen, by adding to it back in his day. He wants to prevent her from these naive, sexual, believing the best in men, pickme things that society is brainwashing her to participate in. He doesn't want to stop or criticize the patriarchal system as he still wants to benefit from it, but his daughter must be off-limits exception, because she is the only woman he feels empathy towards and cares about her well-being. Normally a man doesn't have any woman's best interests at heart and he knows it, as he is like that himself.

[–]sahu_FDS Newbie 38 points39 points40 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is my dad's behaviour to a T. Overprotective and in denial. Wants me to fulfill gender roles but also wants me to stay a child. Wants obedience from me but also appreciates when there's good banter. It's bizzare. Why? Because he knows exactly what sort of future is in store for me, where I care for my husband and childern and also stroke men's egos by challenging them in wit but never questioning their authority.

[–]SamuelaTheThriftyFDS Newbie 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My grandfathers side of the family, all of my cousins are extremely sweet, good people. They 100% believe in equality, no demeaning jokes, very kind, loving with everyone, their moms, sisters, girlfriends, strangers. I was up visiting on my birthday once and they insisted on taking me out, calling up all their friends since I didn’t know anyone in the area and throwing me an impromptu party, I’ve had boyfriends who wouldn’t do that. Everytime I’m around them, it’s honestly heart warming what good people they are. But it also makes it very obvious how not good most of the other ones are. They are definitely hard to find. My cousins are like that I think because my great grandfather on that side was abusive but they went the opposite way and made sure to raise their sons with love and attention and connection. It’s something that I don’t see in a lot of families, especially with boys. That’s why I’m such a huge proponent of FDS and raising your standards when you vet, you weed out all the bullshit.

[–]GIfuckingJaneFDS STRATEGY COACH 13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My family is filled with great men who are trust worthy and kind. And have shown themselves as such their entire lives. I've had great male friends too. It's hard not to paint all men with the evil brush, but there are plenty of great men out there.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This. Wanting to be dead on the inside just to avoid pain is a response to men's depravity. I dont want to live my life in response mode. I wwnt to be who I am, care about things, feel freely, and be in tune with myself.

Fuck being lifeless.

[–]EclecticBarbarellaFDS Disciple 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes, I was talking to someone here about why I don’t date until I feel “fixed” even tho I know I still deserve love. I told them, I am who I am because it was what was least likely to get me abused as a child, and I don’t want to be with someone who likes the version that I don’t really think is me, I’m trying to undo that and get back to who I really think I am as a person. Then I’ll find someone who likes me like that.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Girl YES! I know what you're saying. You're undoing coping mechanisms that predators and abusive assholes are drawn to. So it's not a good idea to date. I think some women confuse this with the whole "you don't have to be perfect to date" which is not the same thing, because the real you under all the coping mechanisms isn't perfect. It's just that the levels of trauma you're operating on right now don't represent you very well.

[–]SamuelaTheThriftyFDS Newbie 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Can you elaborate on what you mean by “dating like a man”? It resonates with me but I want to know if I’m properly conceptualizing what you mean.

[–]EclecticBarbarellaFDS Disciple 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

No emotional attachment, go out with them to get what I wanted (either something to do because I was bored, wanted sex, someone to go to a concert with because I didn’t want to go alone etc), I’d ghost them once I was bored or they started catching feelings or got annoying (or just tell them to get over it if they wanted to stick around because I wasn’t emotionally attached), i wouldn’t invite them to my place or introduce them to friends or family (or tell anyone about them), only go to theirs and then leave right after, no cuddling, no kissing or acts of affection. Refused to meet their friends. I just did what felt good in the moment and didn’t give two shits about what they wanted or if it was hurting anyone. Some of the guys were POS that I don’t really feel bad about (they were probably using me as much as I was using them so I didn’t care) but in hindsight a few of the guys seemed fairly nice from the limited bit I got to know them and a few tried for a relationship and they probably didn’t deserve how cold I was about it.

Probably the biggest dick move, I kept sleeping with not one but two different FWB after I found out they had started dating someone, I just kind of thought I was there first and there was zero emotion so it wasn’t like I was trying to steal him from her, it was just sex and if it got to a point where he said it was more than just a girl he’d gone on some dates with and they were “official” and exclusive id be respectful and stop but of course he didn’t because he was getting extra action. I played dumb for a really long time because it benefitted me but after awhile I’d seen both of them tagged in their girls FB posts so I knew. I just didn’t care at the time. Now Im absolutely horrified but at the time I was coming off of years of abuse from both my dad and stepdad and was just completely shut down and trying to distract myself from it by any means necessary

[–]SamuelaTheThriftyFDS Newbie 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Wow! Did the “no emotional attachment” come easy to you? How did you turn things around?

[–]EclecticBarbarellaFDS Disciple 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I mean, I had spent from 12-18 dissociating from reality because of abuse from multiple adults in my life and if I hadn’t tried to cut the feelings off I likely would have killed myself because they were so overwhelming dark and full of despair. 18-23 I spent drunk/high/sleeping around/doing anything I could to keep the shit from crashing back into my head. It wasn’t so much that it was a conscious effort at this point, it was just the only way I knew to be to survive, and it spilled out into how I interacted with men (and really everyone).

I just finally hit a point where the drugs weren’t keeping me numb enough anymore and I’m too much of a control freak from my unstable childhood to let myself become a full blown drug addict, I had no choice but to either deal with it or go crazy. So I started therapy, started working on reconnecting with my inner child and my inner feelings. I cried a lot. I was mad a lot. I tried a bunch of weird fucking spiritual stuff to see if anything helped. I’m still dealing with it but it’s loads better than it was when I was younger, I look back and shudder at how dead I was inside, I wasn’t even really living. I was just going through the motions so no one would realize I was the walking dead.

Another of his quotes from the same book that I love:

Like a compass pointing north, a man's accusing finger will always find a woman. Remember that, Miriam.

And this is true in every sense of the word.

One of my absolute favorite authors. He has so many quotes that I love. Here’s another, “Marriage can wait. Education cannot...Because a society has no chance of success if its women are uneducated, Laila. No chance.”

I would I never want to be like them. They are empty vessels, taking and destroying. They don’t have the capacity to appreciate the beauty of life in the way we do. They lack to ability to connect on a deep level to their environment.

We are the lucky ones. Just protect yourself from them, and reap the benefits of our experience. That way you win.

We're already better than men, and men know it. Why else do you think they have to actively oppress us? We aren't fighting to be "equal" to men. We're fighting for equal rights under the law that were our god given right to begin with before men took what didn't belong to them. We're fighting to get back what's rightfully ours.
