This was a logistical type shit test. You fucked up by "calling her on it" or whatever the fuck happened. Your frame needs some work. Check out the link Sepean posted.

The bottom line with tests like these is that there is a quantifiable outcome that will either prove you wrong or right. This isn't something purely emotional on her end, it's her logistical mindset vs. yours. As a man, you're naturally better at logistical stuff, but there have definitely been times in my life where I thought I had the right idea, and after hearing out my girls POV, I've changed my mind. I've also stuck with my guns and ended up wrong in the end.

What matters most is that you make a decision and own it. If you think getting another cable box is a good idea, just go with it and A&A any resistance. If you get burned on the back-end and it turns out she was right, keep it light and loose. Find a way to frame it like it's good for you anyway.

The last time I fucked up and my girl was right, I made it about how I'm so great at picking intelligent women. I gave her a shit eating grin and she rolled her eyes but that was it. She still trusts me because I'm her rock and I know how to bounce back from failure. Don't take her seriously but don't be so stubborn that you refuse to accept her input at all.

About 6 months ago I got tired of paying stupid money to the cable company. I cancelled our cable, bought an Amazon fire TV and a subscription to PlayStation VUE which has all the channels we care about and it's $40/month. Boom, instant $80 a month savings. I just told my wife I was doing it and did it. She complained and is embarrassed to tell her rich friends that I did it. I talk about how awesome it is in public. Last night she asked if we could get HBO Now for $10/month. I said no and give no fucks about any bitching about it.
