TL/DR: I have found my desire, drive and general mindset to have dropped off in the past 9 months. Not sure if it’s due to having achieved what I want, a testosterone issue or something else?

History: Found TRP/MRP over 2+ years ago, started to turn my life and marriage around, lost 65lbs and upped my lifts and strength considerably. I was getting sex as often as I wanted, succeeding in my career and was leading my family, in short – I was on a driven path.

Change: At the Start of Last summer I noticed a marked change in my drive and later in my mindset. I stopped caring so much about my diet and even about my lifting, went from 180 lbs to 195. I also had a total lack of interest in sex, I thought maybe since the challenge to get it wasn’t there that was the reason I no longer pursued it.

Mindset: My first thought was to fix my mindset issue. I went back to re-read the sidebar materials, but wasn’t into it, I read them but not as enthusiastically. I started on some exercises from Gorilla Mindset by Mike Cernovich (e.g. Cold Showers, Gratefulness exercises, etc.) but I wasn’t getting to a place where I could increase my drive. I cut out a lot of garbage such as deleting Facebook.

Testosterone: One of the first things to drop off was my sexual desire. It occurred to me that all of this could be a biochemical issue since I am in my mid-forties. Asked my MD about a Testosterone test and MD was against it, instead did a general blood test, all results came back perfect. Asked again about the Testosterone test and was told it wasn’t necessary that this is just part of aging, there are many other things that they need to see to indicate a Testosterone issue? Difficulty is, I live in Canada, if it’s not MD prescribed you can’t get it, I checked with LifeLabs to see if I could pay out of pocket, no getting around the MD prescription.

Question: Looking for thoughts or experiences of others, should I continue to push the testosterone testing issue with another doctor or am I raising a false flag, as my MD seems to think. Are there other books or things that helped you to get into a better mindset?

One reason MD gave me for not pursuing a T-Test was that I am still smoking. She said that any Endocrinologist she referred would say to quit smoking first. That is my dirtiest flaw, don't drink or do drugs, eat clean and workout tons, but I still smoke.

That brings me to Drive and Habits, rather than focusing on getting my drive for good habits back, I need to fix this bad habit and cut this shit out of my life right out now. That will negate this big hairy beast of an issue looming in my head, if after 3 months smoke free I still have issues, I will force the T-Test or as other suggested get it done when I am in the US for work.

No need to wish me luck in quitting smoking, I know - I'm a dumb-ass for still doing it.
