I always see this that peaking in college is a very bad thing, and I agree. You should be a better person every day. But the one thing that gets me is free time. I don't see how working 40 hours a week is supposed to be better than being a college student. Yeah you get paid, but you lose a significant portion of your time. The 40 hours doesn't include commute either, or opportunities lost (e.g. Having to sleep early because you have work the next day, a complete loss of flexibility such as not being able to push work to a later day).

I understand that everyone being in a perpetual "college mode" would kill the country, but that just shows how luxurious a college student's life is. I imagine that a college student's life is similar to a very wealthy person's- little responsibilities and tons of flexibility and freedom. Most guys will never, in their entire lives, have as much freedom and flexibility as they did in college.

I'm saying this as a former engineering major who currently works as an engineer. My schoolwork was harder, but I still had more free time than I currently do.
