Hey going to ask a bit of a metaphysical question here, my best friend kinda made me question myself.

I'm 19 years old, recently started applying TRP and things are getting better and better, I introduced my best friend (18) to TRP after he broke up and got himself a new girl friend, he is aggreeing with all the principles and putting it into practice except the part about finding a passion and working your ass off on it.

Basically he asked me what would change if he worked his ass off 24/7 instead of just doing it "like others do", as in the end we all die and everything we did is lost so what's wrong with playing games and smoking weed without caring that much ?

I tried to explain it to him but I failed and it even made me question why are we doing that, I mean we don't have any purpose in life, so why do YOU keep going forward in your way to improving daily ?

I'm asking that because I'm 19, I'm a blank slate, I don't know anything about the pain of being divorced raped, the pressure of working everyday in a field you might not like ect..

Kinda believe that you have to make mistakes and feel the pain of life to be able to want more than others out of life.

I don't really have any "grand goal" in mind, I do love programming but I have no extravagant goal as great figures like Napoleon or Cesare Borgia could have had.

And this could be perfectly fine to live that way, but I feel like something is off.

I'm a bit lost, would like some insights on what keeps you going and maybe on how to find a "big" life long goal or something to fight for, I don't believe in god and I don't really think I could ever do that sincerely (although it might makes things easier to believe in a greater power.)

Thanks to those who will answer
