TL;DR girl stood me up on a tennis date, so I instead had a good time with a couple of cute girls who happened to be there instead.

I matched with a really attractive girl on tinder and she immediately asked if we could play tennis together. (There are photos of me doing so on my profile).

This was two days ago, and the date we set up was today. I showed up, she didn't. Texted her and waited 20 minutes, radio silence.

Luckily, while I was waiting by the courts, a couple of cute girls asked me if I was waiting for a court, and I said, "Well... yes and no." I walked onto the court (uninvited, lol) and noticed that they were packing up to leave and told them I'd like to hit with them for a bit, casually mentioning that my date had stood me up on a tennis date. They were really sympathetic and agreed to stay a little longer.

We played some tennis (me on one side, the girls on the other), and I got them giggling with the occasional remark. It's kind of hard to explain the jokes for non-tennis players but the point is that even though we were on opposite sides of the court, we warmed up to each other and had a good time.

At some point I unceremoniously walked over to the bench to sit down for a water break and the girls followed. I discreetly checked my phone and saw I had like 6 more matches since we'd started hitting, and one of them was from the same campus I was playing at! I immediately told this girl the situation in a few sentences: "Hey I'm actually on campus right now. I was here on a tennis date with some girl who didn't show up. Fuck it, why don't you join me instead?" To my surprise she said she knew how to play and wanted to join, but unfortunately she had other obligations. I replied "alright that's cool" and chatted for a minute with the two girls.

They asked about my experience on tinder and I said that I'd only started up my profile a few days ago, so I didn't have much experience on the platform. The more attractive of the two said that she met her boyfriend on the platform and some other stuff I don't remember. I wasn't really disappointed that she had a boyfriend, I just didn't really care. I was all out of fucks to give, with how nervous I'd been prior to the no-show date. The other girl had to leave so we exchanged some nice-to-meet-yous and she departed.

We played some more tennis, this time just the two of us with some very subtle flirting. After a bit we took another break to chat. I made some more conversation, and, let me make a point to stop here and describe my mental state at that point.

It was the most relaxed I'd possibly ever been while talking to a super cute girl: just happy, taking in the sunshine, the beautiful scenery around the court, her warm smile. I just felt so at ease and at the same time I was feeling the chemistry, and the tension between us as I made prolongued pauses in my speech. I could feel it in the air, figuratively speaking, and through eye contact.

I didn't make a direct move - I knew she was telling the truth about having a boyfriend - and that's not a boundary I cross. But I did internally enjoy the warmth of the feeling of mutual attraction.

We chatted for another couple of minutes about places to eat in the area since I was starving (couldn't eat much during breakfast, too nervous), and asked if she had anywhere she needed to be. She said she needed to be somewhere, and I took her hand and said it was nice to meet her.

After she left, I checked my phone and the no-show date had texted me (2 hours after we were supposed to meet), saying she had gotten super drunk the previous night and had forgotten and slept in. I'm all for second chances, but she also said that I should have reminded her, which is total bullshit for a variety of reasons, such as the fact that we had made plans just two days earlier. And also that it's not my responsibility to make sure she shows up—in fact that is the one responsibility that was solely hers. She was clearly deflecting because she didn't have the maturity (and was too insecure) to take the full blame for her own mistake. A few hours later I responded saying that it wouldn't work out between us and unmatched.

Not a bad day. I kept my self respect, didn't let myself get discouraged and bail, and in the process had a good time with some female company, even if it wasn't in an overtly romantic scenario.
