Completely unrelated, but I checked your post history, so I want to tell you about the best alcohol:

I've tasted many different kinds in my time, but for most, I only got a shot or 2 (or a beer or 2) so I can't really comment on them.

My favorite though is called a Dreamsicle (I think). It's Vanilla Smirnoff, Orange Crush (or any similar orange pop), and something else (maybe Whipped Cream Smirnoff?). Add some Triple Sec if you want. It tastes exactly like a Creamsicle, except it's liquid and gets you drunk. I know there's an ingredient I'm forgetting -- various sites say to add orange juice and/or milk, so you can try that.

In terms of what goes down the easiest, Scotch or Vodka are probably the best. Tequila's technically smooth too, but it's usually got a pretty distinct flavor, so that might mess with you a bit. A cheap vodka will have a big bite to it, but usually won't taste like anything, and an expensive vodka will usually be smooth as hell without a very "distinct" taste. Scotch is the best IMO, but I only drank scotch when I was younger, and couldn't tell you the brands.

Edit: Fuck it, let's go deeper.

Smirnoff vodka (regular) is fine, but I prefer something more like Absolut or Ketel One. IMO though, Grey Goose is easily the best -- that I've had (just don't mix it with anything, because Grey Goose has a more distinctive flavor on its own and doesn't mix very well).

If you want something harder, get some Jack Daniels. Whiskey's harsh as fuck, but you get used to it. I don't recommend any other cheap brands, but feel free to get something more expensive (which will usually be much better).

For beer, obviously you should be drinking cheap beer whenever it's offered to you (or basically, whenever you have enough money to get some). In my personal opinion, Busch Light is shit and the other "really cheap" beers are shit -- you'll know because the price is usually significantly less (don't get me wrong -- as far as cheap beers are concerned, it makes very little difference, so I'll drink anything). Miller Lite is fine, Bud Light is fine, Coors Light is fine, depending on your own subjective tastes.

For foreign beers, again, it's your preference. Some beers are much darker, and some people won't like that. Try them out.

And "craft" beers are even more subjective. Find a beer company in your area that you'd like to support. That's the best way to do it. Otherwise, 312 is good, Blue Moon is good, and other similar (bigger) companies are pretty good. IMO, most craft beers are seen as "better" inherently because people develop a certain attachment to the beers that are made near them. Just like with 312 and Blue Moon, those places are somewhat near me, so I see more of them, I drink more of them, and I like them more. If I was in some other area, I might not even know what 312 is, so I wouldn't even mention it.

That's very romantic, something that your girlfriend will tell her girlfriends, her family, and people in the office; and everyone's comment would be "Cute!".

If you are lucky, even Cosmopolitan or iVillage might pick up on the story and run an article.

I used to do stuff like that, and with success, all the way through my first marriage, and during my early dating part, post-divorce. BUT this is what I noted: women enjoyed those romantic times, but at the end of the day they went for guys and activities that were less romantic and more.. masculine; and such was confirmed by reading the book No More Mr. Nice Guy (a book that changed my life).

Don't take me wrong, thoughtful activities like that are welcome, but here's the deal, if you are the type of guy that always/often does these type of things, the bar keeps elevating, and... she will be with you not for you per se, but for all those attentive activities; while she will be sexually attracted by other more masculine/manly type of guys; and... it gets worst, when one of these ~~jerks~~ more masculine type of guys does something very very little that's nice/romantic, like bringing her ONE rose, he'll get a lot more mileage than your dozen roses with a box of chocolate and a thoughtful card.

So, now I still plan activities but my rule of thumb is that if they are activities that would be Cosmopolitan approved or that she'll tell her parents, they are no-no. So instead of watching a movie like Tangled, I'd rather watch a soft porn or a full porn; instead of watching it on a make-shift drive-in, it's in my bedroom.

Other activities that I enjoy:

trip to a sexy shop
a visit to a museum where they show a lot of movie-art in order to be naughty in the dark
visit to co-ed dressing rooms (see: http://www.reddit.com/r/gonewildstories/comments/12d7sm/from_making_out_to_the_dressing_room_nsfw/)
visit to nudist colonies

My experience is that there's a divergence between what women say they want, and what women actually act upon; when I tries to be everything women said they were looking in a guy, I got a lot of dates, and at times some plain vanilla sex as well, and women who wanted to have LTR and even marry me. Now that I am a bad boy, I get a lot more women, higher quality women, and... higher quality rewarding experiences; without the waste of time, money, and energy.

Just my experience of what works for me, your mileage may vary.

TL;DR: being romantic will get you dates, and possibly become a good catch for marriage, but in the long term it will bore women. Being a bad-boy will get you better sex, ... longer term and more solid relationships.

Pretty sure there are some municipal bylaws in some areas concerning floating fire hazards >.> But it's still a fun thing to do up at the cottage. I wouldn't put this as a first date, but rather something to do with a longer term relationship. It's cute, but it's not something I'd do with someone who I've been seeing for less than a few months.

While I won't argue that this is a good romantic date idea, this shit isn't going to really help you. Buying dinner, lanterns, etc. will make the girl appreciate your effort, but it would build attraction. Imagine changing this to cooking dinner with her at your place, watching Tangled on your bed, and then seeing where it goes after...

Second date or not, this is laughable.
