It might have to do with your energy level.
I am bipolar and when I am manic, game is 10000% effortless for me. When I lived in Las Vegas, I would always have friends visit and they would tail me through the casino and I would walk around opening sets.....then I'd walk away in 5 minutes and open more sets. It was ridiculous. Several times I had the entire casino floor dancing (I got it going with a dance then people slowly started joining in).
Same guy (me), different mood and it's a nightmare. When I'm depressed it's absolutely impossible to approach.
I think a lot of it has to do with your confidence level. Women can sense when you lack confidence or vice versa.
When I was manic I would literally walk up to woman, say hi, then pick them up and walk a;way with them. I got away with so much because I had 1000% confidence.
Or I would ask them to take my picture, then walk next to a statue and pull my pants down while they took my picture.
It's amazing how much you can get away with when you are confident.
The exact opposite happens when I'm depressed -- I can barely say hello.

He will do crazy stuff.

[–]elakrim 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Yeah " select the target"
[–]ireadalott 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
And when to strike?
[–]elakrim 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Within 3 seconds of see it , more that you give place for second thoughts. So 3 sec rule.

Your manic sounds similar to my ADHD. When my energy is high, I get that crackhead grizzy bear confidence to approach. Women enjoy it. Flow of state.
When my energy is low, I'm more secluded than the planet of Pluto.
Confidence is the drive of action. Any action is better than doing. Drive on drive on!

following because I have a similar problem. Only time approach works for me is when the girl is already super interested and starts asking me questions and acting all curious, otherwise its like pulling teeth

i think this is basically the case for everyone, tbh. Even if you watch infields, you'll see this pattern. It's kind of a numbers game. If she is into you, it's all effortless. If you're not her type, she doesn't talk back, your cold reads and pushpulls etc land on deaf ears, and she really just wants the interaction to end no matter how confident and how much 'game' you have lol

Think of a bunch of interesting things about yourself and reframe them to be said in a way that is vague so she has to ask you what you mean. For example you do boxing so you follow up a comment she makes with “… well that’s better than a punch in the face, which I know from experience”.
She may or may not “take the bait”, but if she does, she’ll likely ask “what do you mean” of if you’ve been in a fight. If she doesn’t, you drop more pieces of conversational bait until she does here something she’s interested in. The other thing you can do is stack a number of pieces of bait in one statement.
Let’s say you do volunteer work in a rest home. Don’t just say you do volunteer work. Make it so she has to ask about it. “It’s funny the people you can meet by chance. I was talking to old John at Springvale Rest Home today about when he was a fighter pilot.”
See how there’s so much in there she can latch onto? She can comment on how it really is interesting the kinds of people you can meet by chance, she may have her own story about that. She’ll be wondering who the hell John is and maybe want to hear more about his crazy story. She’ll also be wondering why you were at the rest home and you can tell her only then that you volunteer there.
None of this is extraordinary conversation but is a good hack to get her asking about you, and not only you asking her

I’m gonna repost a comment I made somewhere else because it seems relevant to your “can’t get out of interview mode” part:
Watch Seinfeld. It may or may not be that funny to you, but the off the wall observations they make in the show in their conversations tend to be funny to most girls when you make the same observations in conversations. Your observations about societal trends, your pet peeves about people. Like “ it really annoys me how…” Done wrong it can feel and come across as negative and complaining, but if you keep to trivial topics it’s usually funny. For example I was talking to a girl the other day how I hate ads that try to sell an ordinary thing as an extraordinary thing. There was a Pizza Hut ad I’d seen on YouTube that said “finally a pizza that’s designed to be delivered hot and fresh”… What so all your other pizzas weren’t? This in itself isn’t hugely funny, especially not when you’re just reading it on reddit. But my annoyance about it made it funny to her. It does help if you are genuinely annoyed by the things you’re talking about, and not just acting for a joke. Also watch standup comedy to improve your timing and humour generally.
The other thing to do is to come up with a list of interesting things you do about yourself and write them down (only you’ll see it). Things like your hobbies, your interests, unusual or exciting experiences you’ve had. Then reframe each one into a “bait” sentence that can be dropped into conversation. The key is it has to be a bit vague so she feels the need to ask you more about it. For example, I used to be a tv cameraman, and I would say “I was out shooting the other day and” but not elaborate on what I meant by shooting. So she has to ask to find out. Or if you do jiujitsu or something you could stretch your shoulders a little and say “I hurt myself rolling last night” and she’ll likely ask what you mean by “rolling”.
The key is to get her asking questions about you, rather than you interviewing her. That way she will feel way more invested in the conversation and you won’t seem like every other dude who just “asks her about herself”

Woman here (or guy stuck in woman’s body for context if you read my previous posts) going to try this—thank you! Do you think it’ll work on guys?
[–]UnifiedField9000 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I suspect it would work, I think anyone gets intrigued when the person they’re talking to alludes to something without giving the full story. You feel the need to ask more
[–]epimpstyle 25 points26 points27 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
I think it is a rule when you approach a woman: every time your friend will have bigger success than you :-))
When I'm going with my friends in town, I also have this feeling that all the girls are interested in the other person... maybe I'm right, maybe not...
[–]Luckyyou00 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Happens to me also.
This why you gotta do solo game
[–]theburneraccountplz 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I think this is right.

Is your friend taller or in better shape?
[–]theburneraccountplz 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Actually I’m 6 ft 1 and he’s about 5 ft 7. He’s a bit more fit. But he get attraction. Usually he gets a lot of attention.
[–]Luckyyou00 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's actually interesting. Usually it's the opposite
My friend is 5'11 while I'm 5'7 he is. But he is in much better shape. And he usually doing better despite worse social skills.
Solo game will be better because you need more experience and confidence.
[–]SaltLeader3687 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Lol happens to me as well
[–]AssistTemporary8422 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Is your friend more attractive than you? Does he have a better emotional vibe than you and is funnier? Does he make more comments than asking questions or does he ask different questions?
[–]theburneraccountplz 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
He does take care of his appearance. I don’t as much and I tend to be a little less well dressed. But I usually don’t think about it.
But his emotional vibe is on point and is way funnier. He mostly comments on the topic at hand. Less interview questions, more emotional topics.
[–]AssistTemporary8422 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There is a reason he takes care of his appearance. Because it makes a real difference.
Emotional topics and humor are always great. A couple over elements that are good for game are indirectly showing high value, and showing intent through being sexual, flirtacious or romantic.
[–]TerminatorReborn 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Only advice is to increase your energy (smile more, act excited, joke around) and maybe improve your looks. Sounds like your friend is straight up more attractive. Let's not kid ourselves here, your odds to get a good reaction when approaching are directly related on how you look.
[–]theburneraccountplz 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I always wonder how I could improve my social skills like jokes and getting into a conversation. Because I would a pretty isolated job.
[–]Ursirname 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Make fun of her responses, reframe, misinterpret, exaggerate. Also make jokes, quick ones that you don't have to spend a lot of time with (and figure out some fall back jokes for things like, "what do you do?", "where are you from?", etc. Pick out snippets of her conversation that stand out to you "you mentioned that you worked on a farm. Which horse is your favorite? And just saying, if you don't pull out some folding family photos all of the horse, I'll know it's all fake." This is basically an interaction I had today. I went a little more straight in the question, but joked when she pulled out her phone to show me.
Waait I’m too literal for this I just get irritated; so make sure to signal its all a joke!
[–]Ursirname 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, you're also autistic. You'll probably have enough signs to know that with you, I should mostly just be friendly, and even build you up the best I can (be excited to see you, talk with you, set out things to do together and be generally more pragmatic rather than conversational while still letting you know I enjoy your company).
I have to say, though, I'm not actually that great at keeping the conversations fresh with autistic people. I've had more luck in playing some game or doing some activity with them.
[–]OpenHeight6562 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Did you ask your friend waht he said to make her laugh? (and compared notes to waht you said). That seems an obvious first step
Though Maybe she just thought he was hot?
[–]theburneraccountplz 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Yeah. We are actually pretty close. But it seems that he’s vibing well. Like the topic of the conversation is a joke or something in the moment. I feel like I’m spitting out basic “how are you” who are you?” Stuff.
He didn’t really say what he said. He just says to go in with nothing in mind.
[–]OpenHeight6562 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
He didn’t really say what he said
mofo's holding out on you!! lol
[–]theburneraccountplz 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
It’s more like. We were walking through a casino. And he’d wave a girl down in-front of us and be like “winning big money” or something related to the moment. And I’d be like “who are you? Where you from?”
So like. It’s not like specific lines. It’s just what ever pops into his head in the moment. Something he doesn’t prepare for.
[–]denimclad_secret 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
...in the moment. Something he doesn’t prepare for
which likely makes it something she isn't prepared for. Novelty catching her off-guard? Exciting her?
This is fairly simple to practice. You can sign up for improv classes or just try it blindly at the supermarket.

Dude I've seen fat dudes, ugly dudes, even homeless dudes with gfs. If the girl don't like you she won't follow. If the girl does she will. Keep playing, you'll eventually win. Unless you quit.

It probably means you're being too platonic.
You need to get her to react emotionally. I'd start by exercising not responding to anything she says literally. Your job is to deliberately misinterpret, tease, and most importantly, not be butthurt.
You're not an accountant for some company, you crunch the numbers for a Latvian mob syndicate. You don't play chess, you hustled as a professional gambler until you were banned from all casinos west of the Mississippi. You're not from a family of attorneys, your mom is a professional massage recipient.
I'm not saying to lie, but to embellish your story so there's some element of truth and some element of hyperbole but clear that you're joking.
Find excuses to touch. Lean in to tell her a secret, arms around shoulder or small of back, your lips to her cheek. It doesn't matter what you say. You could do this drama and say, "I need to excuse myself to the restroom" whispered like you're telling her you want to fuck at the bar. If she has a tattoo on her arm/leg, touch near and say,"What's this about?" Or cold read, "Someone had to die for you to get this inked."
If she says something really surprising or isn't a social norm, you can pretend to be taken aback, "Really?!" As you walk away 8 feet, and turn back.
Basically, you want to give her a rollercoaster of emotion, positive and negative.

Stimulate her mind the rest will follow
Did this naturally in high school. I playfully teased a lot of women but also trolled them. I was naturally a class clown used this stimulation to my advantage.

You gotta know how to make a pitch for yourself or sell yourself as a lover. Ever heard of pitch meetings, the channel, just do what the guy does(overall tone, mannerisms, body language and humor) but when approaching. Do that and have interesting stories. Rinse and repeat till you get good. Thank you and good night!

Best thing is to start talking sexual.
That works for me as I am also kinda bland, dry and lower energy.
