I don’t know any guy who takes the gym seriously who doesn’t get laid. I’m not saying their all fucking models or anything like that but having a nice body is a cheat code lol. Look at your competition, it’s dad bods and fatties.

Me. I'm not getting laid.

How often do you go? Do you lift?
Are you posting pictures of yourself on dating sites? When was the last time you hit on a girl?
[–]RealHumanBeing2020 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Do you have a gym pic on your OLD profile? Serious inquiry. I’ve thought of this, but didn’t want to come off as a total douche.
[–]MasterTeacher123 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I have at least one on each site.
[–]RealHumanBeing2020 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Are you posing or lifting in the pic?
[–]MasterTeacher123 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Usually posing. I link my IG account to every site I’m on so they can see my lifting or working out there.

Cool. Thanks.
[–]Majin_Piccolo 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Yes I lift, but also training for sport. I'm a semi-pro athlete. In total around 10h of activity per week.
I have a pic from a game in my OLD profile but no gym pics just because I don't like selfies.
I don't usually hit on random girls. In my everyday life I there aren't really any opportunities to do so. In the past (8-6 years ago, was around 20 at that time), I used to meet a lot of people trough friends. After my last long term relationship (break up 2 years ago), I still met new people, but not any potential partners.
The last time, I tried to ask out a girl, was like a month ago. Met her trough mutual friends. We get along pretty good, but she's hung up on another guy and gave me the usual crap about not having time to date right now.
[–]2758egli 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You gotta lift with a name like that
[–]MasterTeacher123 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
What do you mean there are no opportunities? You see a girl you think is cute and you hit on her.
Do you wear clothes that show off your gains? I’ll be in public and catching girls checking me out and it’s hilarious lol

At work, just men. At Training, just men. When I go grocery shopping, I want to get it over with and listen to music. When u go out, I'm with my friends and don't talk to other people. I'm usually being shirts, that fit well and are tight around shoulders and arms, so yes, people can see, that I'm fit.
And even if, by chance, I see a cute girl in a situation where I might be able to approach her.. I usually don't want to. Being cute means, doesn't mean, that she is worth approaching. She just reached the bare minimum, for me to be interested in her. That's why I like meeting girls at social occasions or through friends. That gives me a chance to see her interact with other people and get her overall vibe.
[–]Rude-Kaleidoscope-58 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I recognize me so much in your post, that's astonishing. I'm totally with you when you're talking about the bare minimum requirements part, not always approaching people on their physical appearance only. I'm also quite fit, not the fittest but I have nice abs and decent arms. I don't use OLD because I don't really see the point of it, and I'm really bad at making photos so I don't have any decent one. That would only be a waste of time. I only meet guys at work, at the park when training, in a lot of my hobbies. Only remaining things are : meet ups and social circle. Met one girl at a dance class recently. She had a bf. Fuck it. At least I had the courage to ask her out. But it's not complicated to ask someone out, the complicated part is asking someone who's WORTH out.

And I know, I can't expect a lot of dates or hookups without stepping up. But just let me give you an example. I was at a party a few weeks ago. "White" party at a beach club. So a typical event for people, that like to "see and be seen". Afterwards a friend of a friend organized an after party at his house. None of my friends wanted to go and I just thought to myself "fuck it", let's meet new people. I was sitting there at a table, smoking a hookah and there were 4 gorgeous girls. Typical insta girls, a few thousand followers, not enough to be recognized, but enough to get some advertising deals and get that "insta-girl-attitude". It was a pretty chill situation and we just talked in the group. So I had a chance so see, what there overall vibe was. AND THEY WERE ALL FUCKING BORING.
Maybe they just didn't feel comfortable, letting loose a littlest bit, because they didnt know anyone there. I also met 3 of them 2 nights after at another event and they seemed a bit more interesting. But overall it just really confirmed my point of view.
And to be honest, I just don't feel comfortable, chatting up random women, just to tell them after 2 min, that they are not interesting enough to keep a conversation with them.

Thats my same question, are you are lifting heavy weights? then its almost impossible for girls not to notice. Its important part of the advice - don't play around in the gym, don't mostly do cardio, don't lift on those goofy ass machines only, and lift heavy and lift until muscles fail. Add some protein powder into the mix and you will get bigger, people will notice and life will change!
[–]MasterTeacher123 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
A lot of the people at the gym play around lol, it’s true.
Like dudes go to the gym for an hour, but spend at least half the time on their phones.
When I'm at the gym I exclusively lift heavy weights. I also do my warmup with a barbell. But like I said earlier, I'm also an athlete. So not training to gain mass but to get stronger. And yes, I use protein and other supplements. People notice. I'm by far the fittest guy in my circle of friends, I notice girls looking at me and last time someone drunk guy showed some aggressive behavior, he said something like "yeah, I see you're lifting and strong, but don't think you can take me"...
[–]yoitsappy 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I don't. I workout 6 days a week but at home
[–]MasterTeacher123 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Do you hit on girls? Do you post pictures of your gym bod on dating sites or social media
[–]yoitsappy 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yup Yup I think there's a pic of my transformation in my profile

Because it’s a cheat code. Girls love a dude with a nice body lol. You’ll get girls hitting you up tryna fuck just off the strength.
You can do both, approach women IRL and use OLD or social media
You have to look a certain way, like as of you lift while wearing a non-tight tee shirt for the most benefits, but I agree.

For all you men out there that don't believe in lifting for vanity. Just a little bit of context for how lifting helped change my life:
I was under and currently am under an extreme amount of stress to finish my undergraduate course load (I'm trying to get 4 degrees). It messed up my first relationship because that stress literally caused hormonal imbalances and my performance in bed suffered.
What I can truly say is that lifting helped re-regulate my hormones. Of course she was already gone by that point, but lifting helped lower my stress levels, give me more stamina running up and down stairs, helped regulate my sleep schedule, and helped actually increase my testosterone levels. It also lowered my blood pressure (I have family who are doctors so I have access to many tests). And lifting helped me regulate my emotions better and increase my self-confidence after my breakup (and probably still helps even now)
If anything, lift because it literally helps you be the best version of yourself.

the main benefit of working out for me is confidence, which helps in all aspects of life. You can do everything you need to do in a workout from home too, no gym, no excuses

It's different for different people I went to the gym 3-4 times a week for three years ans I hated every second of it but I did it because I convinced my self I had to. I had a work accident later and had to stop going for a few weeks and I never managed to stick the habit again because going to the gym is the most boring thing I've ever done. I do long walks, hikes or swim now instead and I feel quite a bit better than when I went to the gym.
[–]CoffinEluder 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
To each their own. Nothing beats lifting weights.
[–]marcusmccambridge 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Feel like I'm in the same boat, as much as I wish I enjoyed the gym, I personally hate lifting weights, and I've been on and off in the gym for a few years (mostly off), but I do love muay Thai and training hard at that gets me in decent shape but obviously no muscle gain :/

Great post. OP is focusing on improving himself for the sake of betterment, and the benefits and rewards follow.
[–]froze_gold 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I couldn't agree with you more, OP. When you lift, you achieve. When you achieve, you feel confident.
I was addicted to it for months but the dopamine spikes lessened for me and I feel very burnt out in general (seriously considering getting an appointment its so bad). I still go I just hope I gain the energy and drive back one day.
[–]PompousSchmuck 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not to mention women will actually notice you.. fact. I get hit upon pretty consistently by women (its always subtle which is annoying, but it happens). Cant remember when it happened when I wasnt fit.

Any advice on programs to follow? I want to get back into it but my issue has always been that I have no fucking clue what to do once I'm there.
[–]Pringles__ 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
A full-body program (3x a week) is what I'm currently following. The benefits is that you work the whole body consistently and you just go to the gym 3 times a week (I can't afford going one more day as my schedule is pretty tight).
I'm currently using the Pro Gym Workout app (Android), "fitness for beginners". https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.workout.workout
Though I don't need it anymore as I see the bigger picture now, it's good because it guides you at the beginning.
[–]kennilicious 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'll give that a try, thanks bruv.
I actually found this other full-body workout that is also 3x a week, gave it a try last night and it went well. Have a read at it if you have a chance and let me know what you think:

This is what I want to start doing. I just broke up with my girlfriend I weight about 245punds I can’t do any pull ups and I think my right arm is stronger then my left. Plus I want to see the best “version” of myself in the mirror.
