I think most activities are a bit much for a first date, and are usually pretty expensive, but apparently a lot of women see coffee or cocktail date as being a bit too mundane.

I’ve had good times on those mundane dates - it all depends on how well we connect - and then planned something more elaborate for subsequent dates if we want to keep getting to know each other and it seems like there’s potential for a long term relationship.

I once tried a really elaborate first date and it backfired when we realised we weren’t compatible and we had gone and booked stuff and spent a fair amount of money
