My partner moonlights at a gaming store. One girl has a 'receipt spike' 3 inches stacked with numbers. Another girl was given 2x unpainted Tyranid Gargoyles. Other guys bring them snacks and drinks, so it's totally ... I don't even know what the fuck it is.

First of all you need to get her out of the frame she is currently in, which is to be serviceable to you. You could do this by saying something mildly provocative and cocky. A realle great line for opening up store employees is "Do you make 100$ an hour? No? Shame, I was going to ask you out, but I only date super rich chicks". Now you are free to move your game forward!

Go up to them with a smile and ask them how their day's going. Make a situational remark about a customer or ask them how much longer their shift is. I have found you can get them to smile and open up. Honestly, they have to talk to you anyway, why not lighten up their day a little?

I like to open with "Anything exciting happen today?"

I usually get them to laugh and open up a little, taking them out of their current frame.

I would like an answer as well.

There was one HB8 or 9 that I saw a while back, went in there several times, figured I could get something going if I had an in, and had NO IDEA where to find said in.

Any advice on how to game a store employee would be much appreciated.

I don't have much experience, I'm just parroting a couple pieces of advice I heard that sounded good.

First of all, it's slightly different whether it's a place you go often or whether you happen to be in that store one time randomly and have an opportunity.

If it's say, a girl who works at the place you go for coffee every single morning, first off you don't want to come in too strong and risk making her feel awkward. It's highly unlikely that would happen but I'm just saying, absolute worst case scenario and you make a complete fool out of yourself, you might have to walk a couple blocks to the next starbucks every morning, and that would really suck and it isn't worth it for that one girl.

On the plus side, you have a chance to build familiarity. She is probably dreadfully bored with her job, so if you make her day more interesting, she probably won't mind. You want to get to where the always looks forward to seeing you walk in the door. In the meantime you can make small talk about the cool, interesting stuff you do, and possibly find out what she likes to do, and then it shouldn't be hard to ask her out.

I don't have much experience with this, but the one and only time I managed to get anywhere with a store employee I used the whole "sign up for a member card" to tease her. It was at American Eagle, and after she started asking me for my information for the card, I teased her by saying things like "You just want my phone number don't you?", and "what, are you trying to stalk me??!" I got a friend request on Fb the next day. May have just been luck because I don't think that would always work.

employees are difficult in general. Even though they might be social it is most likely to cure on site boredom. They are just like anyone else. Do what you would do normally and just hope to get a number and arrange a get together.

What has always worked for me (and this applies to bartenders/waitresses too) is to acknowledge the social construct in which you're operating. By that I mean acknowledge that they're paid to talk you and/or flirt.

Initiate a conversation, shift it to non-work topics, then say"listen, I know your job is basically to talk and be nice to people, and there's a small chance that this whole conversation was just you doing your job. I don't think that's the case though..." then suggest something she should meet you for.

I generally try to avoid gaming store employees. They're usually overweight, in their teens, and don't want to talk about anything but zelda, halo, and... yep that's everything because ps3 has no games.
