I do this sort of thing frequently. I think it's a good way to weed out anyone not interested. Someone who is genuinely interested will reach out.

Giving your number instead can be a bold move. It shows confidence and lets her decide if she's interested. Just make sure the interaction is genuine and engaging, so she feels motivated to reach out. A practical tip: make the exchange playful by saying something like, "I promise I’m worth a text!" I think it's a great plan, but according to the legend himself who made this approach famous, Brent Smith (the lifestyle coach, not the musician); this approach is not a technique. I.e. if you're using it as a technique in order to get laid, then it won't work.

Instead, his game is the social game. I.e. you talk to everyone, become the life of the party, and then you're naturally attractive to everyone around you, because you have such a great energy, and make everyone love you. This is what I always, always, always focus on when I go out, regardless of whether I take or give numbers. Having fun and speaking to everyone (also men and old or fat ladies) is number one!

What happens when you do this right (aside from being cheered, bought drinks, presented to the hot single girls in by guys you meet, etc), is that you'll notice girls hovering nearby you, or you'll outright be approached by hot girls.

Naturally, you'll at some point end up in a good conversation with a girl who you're not trying to impress (this happens all the time when you're generally social and happy-go-lucky), but who still wants to hang out with you the rest of the night. In this instance, you should never ask for her number. Instead, just invite her home. Or even just assume it and go "It's getting late. I'm gonna go home, pop a bottle of wine and watch some Netflix. You coming?" You won't believe how many girls I've taken home that way! And for straight up sex. No LMR bs.

Moreover, if she has to go with her friends, or if she's got an appointment elsewhere (which you can assume will be boring - i.e. certainly more boring than hanging with you) then just tell her "Hey, sorry you have to go, but just call me if it gets boring." Or even better, perhaps the party dies down where you are, then tell her "Hey, if the place is lit, call me, and I might just come over!" Again, this assumes that you actually had a connection together, otherwise she'll ofc never call.

Naturally, this puts her in the driver's seat. Moreover, yes, it does make sure that you focus on your game, and the connection, rather than useless stuff such as getting her number (wtf do you want her number for anyway, nobody gets laid with numbers these days anyway - watcha gonna do, like talk to her n sheet? Nah, phone numbers or SoMe deets are for logistics, not getting to know one another).

This strategy trades maximal results for efficiency.

You’re less likely to waste time on uninterested girls since they have to reach out first - but you’re missing out on the girls you would have gotten if you reached out first.

There has to be a reason for giving your number. Something where she can naturally reach out without overthinking. Best to make plans and then give your number once those plans are set. If she is serious about meeting, she will text you. If she never texts you, she won’t follow through on whatever plans you made.
