Just say thank you...being a constant smart ass is tiring and obnoxious after a while. Making a joke out of a compliment undermines whatever rapport you've built.

Accept the compliment an do not make a joke out of it. ACCEPT the compliment. Own it. Believe that it is true and factual. No jokes or negative replies. It is harder than one might think.....I had to train myself to just say "Thank you". Watch others and see how it looks to you when they respond with rejection or negative to being told something positive. "Thank you very much. I appreciate that" is as good as anything.

a standard "thanks" or "thank you" really works well. Follow it with some sort of remark that relates to the situation also would help tons. Being genuine in your "thank you" also makes for building good rapport.

I would simply answer "Thank you" and not follow with a compliment to the other person. When you do that, the other person often thinks you feel obligated to compliment him/her and you don't really think what you're saying.

Whenever you need to know how to respond to anything a girl says, just imagine if a random person on the street said it to you. You don't need to "perform" or act different in front of girls.

"Thanks" is fine.

Remember, though, that you are striving to become the kind of guy who gets complimented regularly on a variety of things. Part of that attitude that kind of guy has, is that he isn't surprised or embarrassed by compliments. Also, he knows how to handle one and either move on or leverage it.

If it's a compliment on my physique or eyes, "Thank you, I grew them myself". Otherwise just a "thank you".

Being genuine is not always the right way to go with compliments. Sure, oftentimes it's the best, but I enjoy using

[compliment] (teasing, with kino) "Oh, stop it you!"

It keeps the conversation light. Of course, only say it when you want to continue bantering and keep it light. Usually a genuine reaction will do the trick.

I never compliment unless I honestly mean it, and it won't be the obvious compliment either. I will acknowledge her looks, but I'll compliment her on her personality, interests and talents.
