I posted this in a comment, but hey maybe it's worth of a thread/talk all on its own.

Seduction has a bad rep, and it's a shame. In about 99% of the case, people base their opinions on the whole concept on misinformed and out-of-context stuff, and haters gonna hate, but still, maybe it's a worthy effort to 'polish' up a bit how we write what we write. Our content is great, our form (as /u/tofutofu recently found out the hardest way possible) is often lacking, and widely open to wrong first impressions.

What's more, most here will agree by now that being good with words is a huge factor in seducing a woman. So it's a bit of a disgrace to what we pride ourselves to be, or wanna be, by relying on language that leaves to be desired.

One negative effect of the 'poor form' effect is that we are often turning away an entire demographic whose take would be infinitely valuable: women. I don't know if you guys read and love /r/sex as much as I do, but it's a very gender-balanced community, and apart from the fact that one of the big lessons is that yes, women often love to be dominated. Having girls in here assuring us of just that would by itself be really great, but in general a mix of genders is often super-refreshing. Obviously, it would (and should) never be 50/50 here because let's be real, this community is overwhelmingly about men wanting to improve how they are with women, and frankly that's perfectly fine and normal.

But here is a piece of 'low hanging fruit' that has been bugging me for a long time: the jargon. And let's start with the most obvious one, that has almost zero of the usual benefit of jargon/abbreviation: being an efficient way to communicate something.

Let's be real, 'HB8' or 'HB9' just means 'very attractive woman' or 'hot chick'. (EDIT: it means this to outsiders - confusing the matter even more is that, as /u/puaCurveball and others correctly point out, the interpretation in a seduction FR is different from that) So it's fine - and frankly more natural to read - exactly that. Hell, be poetic about it. Or often, when 2 different HB#s appear in the text, it can be easily replaced by 'her slightly less hot friend' or whatever.

(similarly if it were up to me I would replace [FR] by [Story] but ok you can't have it all :))

Don't get me wrong: most seducation acronyms/jargon often serve a great goal, for example all the ideas behind 'kino escalation' would be really cumbersome to replace in 'outsider prose'. But in other cases, the jargon's juvenile/disrespectful connotation far outweighs any positive 'efficiency' its use may have. I believe the HB notation is the most common example of that.

Curious for your take! Do you feel that any change in HOW we talk is synonymous to 'bending over to the ignorant haters', or is the style of our writing worthy of discussion?

TL;DR: jargon is good if it makes writing more efficient, but the HB notation does not, and all it does is help people dismissing seduction for the wrong reasons, which is a sad loss.
