Sometimes this is the best approach. Short and sweet, very direct. I think a lot of people on here get way too caught up with the idea of building rapport and escalating the first interaction. Sometimes leaving a lot of mystery and just leaving is the best. It’s a hitting on and run.

People make it sound like it's so easy even though it's not. How do you get over the first cold approach as a begginer cause the first is always the hardest?

These aren't criticisms but something to keep in mind as you develop. The description of your pickup was YouTube-esque Flash Pickup style, Jack Denmo, ThatJustHappened, etc. where you make a quick impression and go for a fast close. I think you realize it as well that the number is likely to be flaky since you're not really on her radar as anything other than a guy that said hello. You expressed some confidence/charisma, but haven't really separated yourself from the masses quite yet.

Not necessarily now, but in the future you'll likely want to incorporate some or all of the following:

- The false time constraint. Say you need to run soon, meet with a friend, get back to work, etc. This will put her at ease that you're going to get to the point, and mentally opens her up to receive what you're going to say since you're establishing you're not going to keep be around forever.

- Be a bit more assertive when you go for the contact close. You came up to her so you need to steer the boat. Hand her your cell and have her put herself in. If at all possible, have her get you to add you as a contact before you leave. You want to avoid the social media in case she has other guys in her DMs - you want to be doing something different than every other guy. If she objects to phone you can say you don't use social media/don't check it. However, if she's objecting here it likely means her interest is low - so you might also go back to providing value/creating trust. She gave you the number instead which is a good sign - but you might have simply lucked out here so don't rely on that technique.

- Asking if she's single can only hurt you, especially when she's with a friend. She could be tired of the current guy she's seeing and looking to upgrade. However, she may not want to say "yes" in front of her friend. Who knows how the friend know the current guy. If you're approaching her, she KNOWS you're there to hit on her. If she has a boyfriend that's she's committed to, she'll tell you. Just assume she's available and interested in you until proven otherwise. READ her level of interest - don't ask her about her interest.

- You did a very direct opener which is good. You might try indirect, but polarizing openers like a push pull, "I just had to say that those shoes with that dress is super clashy, but the way you carry it just makes it work"

- Try to engage with the group. One of my favorites is to find how how the friends know each other, if appropriate, ask of one to the other, "Give me your best executive summary of [other girl]" this brings in the friend, and also clues you in if the friend will be a problem.

Anyway, I'm so stoked for you! Keep the inertia going.

Its great that you are showing your intent so she isn't wondering why this stranger is talking to her. But you need to take time to build comfort. I'll warn you this girl was one of the nicer ones and this won't work on most of them.
