I know this has probably been asked a dozen times, and I've read countless answers, but none of them really satisfied.

The thing is, when talking to (most) girls, whether with something romantic/sexual in mind or in a friendly way, I just run out of topics to talk about. This happens when talking to dudes but not as often.

It's always easy to tease about this, about that, provoke a laugh or something. But at one point you have to go on to actual conversation, and that's where I get lost.

People say, you can talk about anything! A friend told me he initiated a girl by talking about pineapples. But that's just a stupid thing to say. Sure, you can talk about anything. You can talk about the weather, her sister's name, but that stuff doesn't make for attraction, it doesn't make you stand out, become memorable to her. If you approached a girl talking about pineapples and succeeded, you had good chances initially and/or are a really smooth talker.

Then there's also people who say that all girls like to talk about is other people. But that, again, doesn't make for very interesting conversation, unless there is some common thread you can pull. Sure, I've had coffee with many girls and they definitely love chatting about other people, but it's again, dull and pointless, uninspiring conversation. And entering these conversation topics usually ends up with a girl complaining about someone who did this/that to her. That, again, is not conductive towards starting a relationship.

I know people who are smooth talkers, who can chat up someone and instantly become best friends, find topics with everyone, but I don't have that gift. And, from my experience, the smooth talkers really tend to lean more onto the psychopatic side, so there's that!

So when (I'm in high school) I see this hottie in between class her, I just don't know what to do. Am I nervous to talk with her? Nope. In my mind, I'm five leagues above her. Inner game really isn't a problem. But then you emulate in your head what the two of us would talk about and you realize you don't have a minute's worth of actual talk. So why approach then? Might as well be /blank/ in her eyes than someone who disappointed her with a boring conversation. And then I don't approach.

Often, similar stuff happens with girls who I know are interested in me.

So, if anyone would be able to explain to me how this thing called "making conversation" works in a relaxed school/day setting? (Specifically talking about the filler conversation between important questions)

It just seems so simple seeing other people do it with ease :/
