I recall some guy crunching the numbers to find how many women were up to his standards to date in his city. He was not that picky - not overweight, college education, white, and at least somewhat attractive. I think the pool ended up being less than 1000 women in a city of a million or so. The viable options are much less than you suggest, especially considering how fat the average American woman is now.

Good read. Puts my last breakup into perspective a little bit more.

I just went on a few dates recently for the first time after my first breakup two months ago. Didn't feel that chemistry we look for in partners. Does that even exist or is that some false notion like "the one?"

Reframe 'the one' as 'your journey'.

You can be 'meant' to be with X person for X time, then Y person for Y time. Each relationship builds on another. Just remember that you can and will always upgrade - I think that's where most people get hung up at.

I read the opening paragraph five times and it still didn't make grammatical sense. Pronouns exist...use them. I understood the point, but you may want to step up your writing skills if you plan on releasing a book (or prepare to pay out the nose on editing).

As far as the content goes, I really couldn't get past the grammar constantly tripping me up so I skimmed. It's pickup 101 and it's already been said a million times on other blogs.

Sorry to be a negative Nancy, but I figure you're the type of guy who is ready for the harsh reality of your situation. No hard feelings meant; I'm just trying to help. As always though, the contribution is appreciated. Thanks for posting. Keep it up.

It breaks my heart to read, having lived my life as a romantic, good guy at heart. I see potential in others that I approach, and I would like to believe in a deeper appreciation of individuals that I choose to interact with than treating them as just another person to spend time with. After all, attraction spirals into chemistry, and you want that spark out of others, for themselves and for you. I guess I'm not completely on board having only read this one perspective, but logically, I guess it is correct. But where does logic come into play with romanticism?
