I've been doing this for a few months now, trying to be as perceptive of my surroundings and people as much as i can, and what really helped me achieve this is talking slow.

Talking Slow is a great way to control the flow of the spoken interaction, because it gives you time to observe and think exactly what you are going to say thus dominating the conversation, and with time you learn to say a lot more with less words.

From a sales man perspective too a slow-talking approach is much more efficient, because it denotes confidence instead of neediness which it kills the sale/attraction.

After a while of doing this the "slow talking" will transform in more of a rhythm talking, which is an awesome way to tune up with people pretty quickly trough speech.

So be observant and talk away ^{^{^{^Slowly}}} mates.

One thing I like about Sherlock Holmes is that he offers a convincing model for how mastery of a variety of basic elements creates expertise.

Apart from the perceptiveness mention in this article, Sherlock Holmes was an expert in a variety of areas useful to crime solving. He knew London like the back of his hand, he was familiar a variety of trades, he could identify different types of cigar ash, etc.

How does this apply to seduction? There are many skills that would be useful to know when talking to women, and when attracting women. Identify those skills and learn then, and it will help your game.

Sherlock isn't really doing anything you couldn't do. He just has a wider skillset, and experience using it.

My problem is to get a girl to open up in a first place. I don't remember last time I had a real conversation, I usually end up doing some verbal tricks just to have a conversation going. I wish I knew how to get girls to talk to me about their experiences, passions, travels.

actually, being more perceptive and using deduction has actually made me less curious, since I often feel (correctly or not) that I can deduce as much as I want to know before getting too deep into a conversation, or just not talking to them at all.

One thing I tend to be able to do is pick up on certain perfumes. I only know 6 or 7, but when I recognize them, it usually gets an impressed smile.

I like what the article says, but most of the example conversationss are pretty mundane. I think what's attractive about Sherlock to women is that he's interestingng, intelligent, and aloof. This is practically the magic recipe. If you act like you dont want a girl, she'll want you that much more. Thats why he hits it off with the ladies. He has so much shit going on in his life, he doesn't have time for them. Ladies love that shit. The obvious counterpoint would be a guy that gives all his time to a biddie.

The best thing about Sherlock is his ability to cold read. Unfortunately, he's so good at it, it comes off as offensive.

I disagree with this quite a bit. There is a running view in psychology that introverts are actually more perceptive to their surroundings and whereas extroverts don't notice and so tend to actively create more stimuli by talking etc. From a personal experience when i pay attention i pick up on a lot of things that I know people don't want mentioned because it either breaks the flow of conversation or is something they want to project as natural and so pointing it out takes away from the effect. In other words i get stuck in my head. People prefer to hear pleasantries or original content, not passive observations that can be uncomfortable

Really? Fucking really??? This epitomizes what is so wrong about some of the stuff on this sub. "She said/likes/does this one little thing that might encompass 0.0001% of her personality. Yeeeaaaahhhh, I got her pegged!"

Overall good article about how to be observant and use that for conversation, but there are some stupid character assumptions in it, as well.

It's actually easy to notice things. The trick is in converting that into a question or talking point that drives an interesting conversation that goes somewhere. If you're new to it, especially in the context of dating, it can be difficult to predict what works and what doesn't. The only solution is trial and error.

Walking up to a strange girl holding a headband, and telling her it looked good, worked out in his likely fictional example, but that might just well have ended with her telling him to "get lost creep".

this is how I met my last girlfriend. It's good to see this and relearn this now that I'm back in the game. I suggest if you work in retail or food service you try this in regards to up selling or making small talk with customers
