Just trying to gauge how fucked I am. Currently separated, I moved into an apartment, wife has the house. We also have two children. Wife and I are on good terms. We agreed she would keep the house and I would pay half for education expenses like daycare. That’s it. Like I said, we’re on good terms and we agree on everything that we’re aware of at the moment. So a little back story, she bought the house while we were dating. I moved in. Years later we got married and she added my name to the home ownership. Skip to today. I’m in an apartment and living paycheck to paycheck with no money. We’ve started talking divorce. She wants divorce and I think we could still find a way to make the marriage work, but I think divorce is inevitable…ok. Now what? She is very good with money, has savings and no debt, except for the home. She was the breadwinner for most of our relationship. Now we make pretty much the same amount every year. I feel like there’s going to be something we’re not aware in a divorce process that’s going to hurt one of us financially. I got nothing and can’t afford a lawyer. She can. Don’t get me wrong. I’ll I care about is protecting our children and we’ve agreed on a 50/50 custody. Figured I ask the Reddit community. How fucked am I? If you’re still reading, thank you.
