Beware of moths attracted to your light.
No one is entitled to your light.
You owe your light to no one but yourself.
If someone is inspired by your light, great.
But make no mistake, your light is yours & yours alone.
Don’t let other people tell you what to do with your light.
If they had a light of their own, they would be doing those things.
Don’t let dim ass people tell you what the fuck to do with yo’ shiny ass lights, sisters
Shine where you please.
Shine where you are appreciated.
Shine in places that multiply your shine.

I prefer to listen to an expert in the subject, like the author of "The gift of fear". You don't owe anyone to be nice if your intuition calls for red flags. Niceness is a choice, not a character trait.

This is on my goodreads list!
[–]emtootsFDS Newbie4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
So good! I’ve read it twice and would read it a third time if I hadn’t loaned it to a girl friend. Every woman needs to read this book!!!

I notice there's no specifics at all in the post to allow us to come to our own conclusions.

My thoughts:
HOW FUCKING EVER
This entire post is about “rude girls” and women calling ourselves bad bitches. I am sure there’s a lot of behavior of mine that I think falls into the “bad bitch,” category, and I don’t think it’s rude. But many other people think it is rude.
I mean, the expectation for women to be quiet, obey, be seen and not heard. That’s all an undercurrent here, right?
Btw, I bailed on that sub. It’s mostly ppl posting popular opinions.

Women should compliment men
Women should ask men out
Women should always look 20 years old
Women should never be rude (especially to a man)
Women should
We're done here. Women don't own you anything

I've met people with a bitchy attitude before. I don't like them, I don't hang out with them, simple. I find people I get along with.
... that's it. Find the people worth spending your time with.
The screenshot leaves me feeling "maybe it's not them, maybe it's you..."

I very much doubt that this man has ever been quietly reading and minding his own business and then been approached by a bad bitch who has a problem with him reading, but one of my earliest posts on Reddit was a rant about not bothering women who are reading and SO MANY MEN GOT MAD AT ME for suggesting that a women reading/studying in public actually isn’t hoping to be bothered by random strangers. If lots of women are cold and rude to him, I higggghly doubt it’s because he’s quiet and keeps to himself, more likely he keeps women out to the point they go on the defensive to try to gets him to go away.

One time, I straight up gave a guy my business card, and told him to make an appointment. Never heard from him!

Sooo he? she? can excuse their rude behavior of staying quiet “for hours” and opening up books in what I presume are social situations and, from the way this reads, mid-conversation. They also give zero specific examples of this “rude” behavior.

I've seen a couple of these lately, along the lines of "women who consider themselves bad bitches/queens/whatever are just being assholes." Imo it's bc reddit's target demo is trying to find their MPDGs.
[–]PsychicletaFDS Newbie4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What is an MPDG?

This is my theory, too!

If being a bad bitch is not taking men's bullshit then I'd rather be a bad bitch instead of a polite, shy and quiet bitch. Because men call us bitches no matter what. Might as well be called one for the right reasons.

i'M nOt LiKe tHE OtHer gIrLS. Gosh I hate this, and also how all the other girls are dumb and HATE reading. None of this is true, being rude is subjective too. Like enforcing boundaries and standards to some people can seem rude. Why do they need to tear down and belittle other women for not being quiet like them. It's OK to be quiet, it's OK to be loud. What's not OK is thinking you're better BECAUSE you're quiet. Lots of women like to read, lots of women are badass (not a fan of the b word) because of the cool and awesome stuff they do! Not because they're rude. They also know their worth.

"Radiating light". Ugh, I hate the fake, corny, toxic positivity new age vernacular.
[–]Salt_SatisfactionFDS Disciple16 points17 points18 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
"Radiating light" where the hell does this narrative of women being pure beings of light that only need to focus on being virtuous and kind? Do people like this really think that radiating light will inspire LVMs to be better and to treat you right?
[–]MaisiebrFDS Apprentice8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's one step further into the "Smile!" narrative.

I mean...yeah, kindness and politeness are virtues, but without specific examples this is as worthless as it gets.
The problem of the post is not that it says that some women are rude (some definitely are) but that it calls for politeness as the default response in every situation. And if a man is approaching you and doesn't take no for an answer, or is taking advantage of your agreeableness in the workplace, etc. then being polite is detrimental for women and shouldn't be encouraged.

Ew this guy sounds like the biggest loser
He prob got rejected and is butthurt because the girl has baddie energy and doesn’t gaf about him. Shooting down people who you aren’t interested in (romantic interest or otherwise) is not rude.
This!
