I will admit that I am impressed to see a progressive writing for a mainstream news source describe the relationship between the Left and Men's issues so well.

It is from 2019 but it gives me hope. 😌

I'm glad that information around men's issues is becoming more mainstream and I found the article to be informative. That being said, if I didn't care about men's issues before reading this article, I probably wouldn't care afterwards. The author chose their words too carefully and it was clear early on how hard they were trying not to offend readers. The article was all facts and no emotion and honestly if we need to get more people on board, we'll need more pleas to emotion.

I was encouraged. Then I read "But the fact that women remain victims in many ways does not negate the reality that many men are struggling and are victims of economic and cultural changes — ONES THAT ALSO OFTEN HURT WOMEN, children and society."

And there it is. Still framed from and for a female perspective.

Fucking ding ding ding. Why do you think so many men's issues communities are overwhelmingly conservative, making it so easy to fall into the toxic red pill groups or, even worse, alt-right groups? It's because they are the only groups willing to acknowledge the feelings that a lot of people, particularly men, experience. The left refuses to acknowledge that men have issues and the right hates social change so they'll use any excuse they can to bash social movements.

Men's groups are not without their problems, and neither is feminism, but we need both if we want to have an honest discussion on gender equality.

Not sure what this was supposed to mean, bracketed as it was by problems men have. Is he saying that being a hardcore gamer is a problem? Or a symptom of a problem? Why does it need to be either?

Otherwise a nice article.

The very phrase “men’s issues” conjures up images of bitter, angry white guys who stupidly don’t realize that they are oppressors and on top of the world. In the era of #MeToo, men don’t have problems; they are the problem.

Like Brian Banks?

Like the guys who collect your trash?
