It could be that they are envious of your position. It's not uncommon for people who hate(crab in the bucket mentality) to "recommend" something under the guise of being good for you as a means to ruin you. That's why you don't speak about yourself positively. I work full time to cover my bills. And I don't make much. So no one gives me shit about my life. If your life is less stressful and such, to other people they wish they had that but they never will. So instead, they'd rather ruin you to make themselves feel better.

I think what you're dealing with is the conundrum of work-life balance. I had that once. I had a daytime 8 hour job that afforded me the opportunity to be involved with church groups, sports, and community activities. I was happy with where I was living, what I was doing, and the hours I had to work. My narcissistic wife, seeing this, felt she had no choice but to take this away from me.

Because of a move (about 1,000 miles) that I finally agreed to in order to try and make her happy, I now have a long commute, work evening hours, and have no activities outside of work. She wondered what happened to her happy husband. She then proceeded to plot and scheme against me with her daughter (my stepdaughter). She eventually moved in with her daughter and then filed for divorce from me.

While she was with me yet, she complained about her much shorter commute, her better hours and the fact that I was never home at night (while I had to work nighttime hours). A situation that she conveniently forgot that she herself created.

MGTOW means a work-life balance that you can determine for yourself as well as a logical determination in meeting your financial needs. Sometimes extra hours afford you the opportunity to make money to purchase something extra for yourself or maybe set aside more money for retirement. As long as it's your decision and benefits you in some way, you may want to take the opportunity.

A woman, many times will complain, that you're not making enough money. So you go forth and work the extra hours. Then she will complain that your not home enough, she feels lonely, and you're not meeting her emotional needs. This scenario basically justifies MGTOW, as if women didn't give us enough other reasons!!!!

I will clarify even more. I work weekends at a gas station. That covers my monthly bills. I also do yard work and odd jobs on the side for extra money but that is at my leisure. I also work Nov and December helping with ups. I have worked a lot of full time jobs before and it always became too much for me to handle. Nothing against anyone who does it. I don't mean to jab at anyone by the "slave to a job" comment. Whatever works for you, great! Just don't get on me about what I chose to do!

I do this as well, and I’m sure many people don’t understand it, but no one ever says anything to me about it because they know I am a very independently minded person who is not easily swayed by what others do or don’t do.

The way I look at it is that I have a finite amount of time on this planet. Why should I spend more of it working than is necessary? I am frugal for the most part, and I ignore this consumerist society. No fancy, expensive car or house for me, as I don’t need them to be content and happy. I’m providing virtually no money to the gynocracy in the form of taxes, and I have more free time. It’s a win-win situation.

So yeah, most people won’t understand what you are doing, which is fine because somebody needs to pay the taxes anyway. Just remember that there are those of us who do understand you.

That said, I also understand why there are those who are MGTOW that want to work more to save up money faster. In other words, do whatever you deem good for you regardless of what others think. That’s the beauty of going your own way.

A non-traditional work routine is on my todo list. I've heard some MGTOWs talk about night shifts, part-time work or seasonal work as well.

I already have a setup full-time but with a ton of time off during the year. I will be switching to even less work within 5-10 years.

Had a similar problem like this, managers felt like I didn't have a life outside (girlfriend/kids) so they made me stay longer. It had to do with the way I projected myself though, should've not tolerated their little shit tests/ games. Most managers feed off the power that they have over you, they got off on the power trip. Especially minimum-wage bosses.

I try to do much the same. “Full-time” at my job is three 12-hour shifts per week, so I’m damn near part-time. Working that schedule, I earn more than enough money to cover monthly expenses, investing in my personal Roth plus still extra to pay down my student loans ahead of schedule. And once those loans are paid, I’ll have over $1000 extra per month to invest and save. I could pick up extra shifts and make even more money...but why? I’d rather have the time to pursue my hobbies and side interests - that’s worth more than even more extra cash.

Why not work more and save & invest the extra? With more money in the bank, that buys you more degrees of freedom later on in life. The key portion here is to retain the extra $ and earmark it to invest in your own freedom later. Additionally you can create your own business entity so that many of your expenses can be deducted pre-tax (think: company boat for entertaining clients) so you can have a higher quality of life but pay less in taxes. That being said, if a simplified way of life working fewer hours floats your boat, I fully respect that.

If you take care of yourself, pay your own rent, and are not a burden to anyone else, go for it. It seems that with most places these days, you have to start part-time or with a temp agency to get your foot in the door. Many companies are resistant to hire full-time because of having to provide insurance and benefits to people that may just up and quit. If you can miraculously find a job that pays well enough, meets your needs, and provides enough free time to enjoy it, kudos to you MGTOW brother.

Your risk is your ability to save and invest. What happens if you lose your job or cant work and you dont have an income for any unforseeable reason?

Luckily, this risk is actually easily offset with some smart investing especially if you can live on a modest amount.
