Imagine if the Kens weren't just men, but were regarded as a race. Kens are regarded as second class citizens, but seeing a land where their kind is free, inspires them to recreate that in their own country, before being overthrown and forced back into unwilling submission. One race oppressed by another, and after trying to rise up after seeing a glimmer of hope, relentlessly put back into a subservient role.

This is Hollywood not understanding that oppressing the people who they think is responsible for all the evil in the world does not make them the good guys. Notice how after we defeated the Axis in WW2, we (the western Allies) didn't round them up and put them into death camps, or force them into crippling debt, or clearly place them in a socially-demeaning role beneath us. Germans, Italians and Japanese were welcomed back into the international community and have blossomed as cultures ever since. An eye for an eye may be justice, but it isn't always the right answer when it comes to building a better world.

Nope I support men’s rights and I want women to have equal rights. You can have men’s rights unless women are also equal.

I just want to address the specific inequalities that men face, that doesn’t mean I don’t also support women in tackling the inequalities they face.

I think we only win this fight by making an active effort not to fall into the trap of being anti-feminist or being seen to attack women.

Yes, it is something that has been happening more often. See 'Secret Invasion' and 'The Power'. Hollywood, and the mainstream media, have been taking shots at men's advocacy for the last 2 years, in particularly, and accelerating it.

This is actually a very bad prospect due to the control of image of men's advocacy being taken away.

Barbie encourages Ken to work out who he is outside of his relation to Barbie, and to learn being Just Ken is enough.

I think this is the part that infuriates me the most. Even his self-actualisation has to be mediated by a woman. This paternalistic attitude is why so many men find it hard to accept any advice from feminism.

Is the Barbie Movie Hollywood's swipe at the MRM?

The Barbie movie is the product of an Excel spreadsheet, algorithm, and room full of "social media experts" putting their collective intelligence together to generate a film that 30-to-40-something women can watch to feel really good about themselves.

As Barbie dolls have continued to fail to appeal to millennial parents, they needed a new approach to get these moms to go to Walmart, hop on a mobility scooter, and pilot their way straight to the Mattel section. You see, Barbie has something of a dark past if you can believe it. When I was a kid, Barbie was a sexist monstrosity who served two purposes: [1] to give young girls eating disorders, and [2] to provide long slender limbs which could serve as a perfect tool for inducing vomit after they binge ate. Oh man, women of that time simply were incapable of not talking about how bad Barbie was and how anorexia and bulimia rates were going to skyrocket due to her influence.

So, the Barbie movie. You see, feminists are demonstrably the perfect morons to pander to. There are a lot of them out there. And they love being spoon-fed messages about how awesome they are. Even when Beyonce's clothing line was found to be using sweat shops run predominantly by poor women in developing countries, paid $6 a day, feminists were OK with it because Beyonce sang a song about girls running the world and that just resonated with your average American feminist. She could really just feel empowered by that message and totally look past the exploitation of brown women who never really mattered to her.

People need to understand:

Hollywood doesn't care about the MRM.

Hollywood doesn't care about feminism.

Hollywood has absolutely zero interest in the gender debate or anything that's happening to men or women anywhere.

Hollywood likes one thing: money. And if they're going to make a movie about Barbie, they're not going to roll the dice on trying to attract a bunch of men whose only interaction with Barbie was tearing her head off to make their sister cry. They analyzed predominantly female spaces and made a heartless soulless flick to get as many women's asses into movie theater chairs as possible.

Feminists who saw this and thought "Wow, Hollywood gets me! It totally got the MRM good!"... You are complete impressionable fools. If Hollywood thought it would be profitable, it would put Ken and Barbie in fursuits and have them yip at each other for two hours. And your favorite actors and actresses would jump at the chance to do it.

so ken essentially finds out that men rule the real world, goes back to barbie land, and takes over. he essentially makes the barbies submit and rules iver them with the kens. he also stole barbies house and tried to get the constitution to favor men. but by the end of the movie, things get evened out and its shows kens start to get equality. the whole purpose is to show that its not good to favor one gender over another, because thats misogyny/misandry, but that both need to be equal. if you actually watched the movie you would understand that. people who think its making fun of the mrm are obviously misogynists who hide under a cleaner term. literal line in the movie; ken: but its always ‘its barbie and ken’ barbie: maybe its time to be ‘its barbie and its ken” (something around those lines)

watch the damn movie first bozos before criticizing it
