Rape is a serious charge, but so often we see women use it falsely to get revenge, or attention, or whatever other self-serving result. The man accused is usually found guilty by public opinion immediately after accusation, and risks being ostracized...not to mention spends money for unnecessary legal representation. And 20 counts?? I was ready to read the article and be outraged {against the woman} but I'm left confused. The article repeatedly refers to her 'husband' - not 'ex-husband' or 'estranged husband' - but 'husband', even including the attorney explaining to him how serious it is if she 'wastes more police time'.

So then I focus a bit more on doctors not being sure if she's of sound enough mind to know what she's doing. And I wonder if her husband specifically did not want to press charges against her, whether because she's honestly mentally ill, or he just believes her to be.

The verbiage leads me to believe that she didn't actually name anyone other than him - 'unnamed' - from how I'm reading it they mean 'she didn't actually identify anyone other than her husband' and not 'we and/or the courts aren't releasing the names'. So then it would mainly fall on her husband to want to press charges - perhaps another factor in not pursuing legal remedy?

She sounds like she's in dire need of hospitalization, probably long-term. Sadly this won't stop her from making things up. People claim all kinds of things when they're mentally ill. Alien abduction springs to mind.

{If anyone knows of a case where someone went to court for wasting police time on alien abduction claims, I'm honestly interested}

I feel for her poor husband. It's got to be really hard to be married to someone that might actually believe the accusations when she makes them - or if she's just a raging fucking bitch who claims it for attention or spite - either way, poor guy.

To be fair, it appears she's not spending any time behind bars because she was found to basically be nuts. People who try to frame men for rapes deserve whatever they get, but it looks like this woman wasn't trying to do that, she was so out of it that she didn't know what she was doing.

So unless I'm misreading that, the woman is being let off the hook after admiting to making false claims of rape because she didn't realize that doing so is wrong? Can you imagine that excuse working for any other criminal act?

Seriously, unless the courts start locking women up for making false rape accusations, it will keep happening. Given that in most countries - including Australia - rape accusers identities are kept secret whilst the accused identity is made public often before charges have been laid, rape accusations are a powerful means for a vindicative woman to destroy a man's reputation. That the legal system apparently places no value on a man's reputation is disturbing. Even more disturbing is that often the only "evidence" in a rape accusation is the woman's statement. Given that beween 40-80% of rape accusations are false (depending upon whose figures you want to believe), the law puts a huge amount of power in the hands of irresponsible women to ruin men's lives with absolutely no backlash upon themselves. With legal idiocy like this, it is no wonder that fewer and fewer men repect women.

I can't believe it. There are seven suggestions of raping her, and one suggestion that she be "kicked in the cunt" until she dies; all out of 107 comments. I recognize the comments are in the negatives, but not nearly low enough. Men's rights are about equality and fighting for our rights.
