TRP is a dating and self improvement guide. It's target audience are unattractive (skinny or fat, no sense of style, awkward body language and submissive posture, pale and low testosterone,...) social outcasts that got outdated dating advice and are now trying to catch up with their peers. It has some good information that could be found anywhere else (go to the gym and eat better, buy better clothes, approach women and don't lose your cool, basic hygiene,...) mixed with some abusive and manipulative gaslighting tactics (dread game), douchebag behavior (toying around with their insecurities and going for easily manipulated insecure women), misogynistic premises (women are mentally like children, all women will cheat if given the chance, women are manipulative and selfish, all women are gold diggers, never trust a women, never listen to women, friendship with women is useless, even if they say otherwise all women want a dominant muscular douchebro, men are literally better in every possible aspect, all women are basically the same person,...) and a huge load of anger (directed at society for lying to them when they told them that being fat isn't that bad and that they might find a partner one day, at women for actually wanting sex and being attracted to attractive men, at their former self, at all women based on the actions of a few shitty women).

They got told that women want a nice guy which in their mind meant that only being nice is important and that their interests, looks, social circle, flirting skills and smell don't really matter. They turned their niceness up to 11 and became a submissive, non-confrontial and boring doormat that tried to made them fall in love by being a supreme gentlemen and showering them with gifts. This way of being nice was useless and thus they figured that they've got to be a douchebag, because women don't like nice guys as seen in the fact that they didn't get laid and that murderers do have groupies.

TBP are people that make fun of it, have moral issues with it or criticize it for being wrong. Many of them are women that see their shitty ex and macho douchebros that hit on them all the time in those posts and others are guys that can get laid even though they are nice, respect women and treat them as equals instead of like children.

Purple Pill is the middle ground.
