This is why an average (in metrics) will still be average.

If you are average then that other person who is richer but not pleasant will be higher in one but lower in another.

While I get what you're trying to get out it doesn't make you below average.

Average fully depends on the situation, being average overall as a person is dependent on all those factors and situations combined.

If you’re average in looks, average financially, and average socially (your emotional-intelligence, the amount you go out etc.) compared to your peers you will seem incredibly bland, and therefore unattractive in comparison.

I get what you're saying, but you gotta realize that there are a lot of people that are below average each of these areas and do not have one area where they excel, and if they do then not far enough to compensate for being below average in every other area. For instance I don't think a person that is below average in looks, below average socially, but above average financially has a leg up on a person that is average in all those categories. Unless we're talking way above average financially like top 10%, then they can attract people who only want them for that.

I keep saying this on PPD, but being perfectly average is not a bad thing.

They’re overweight, they can just lose weight for a year and automatically be above average.

$50k is respectable, enough to be financially secure. Save up money and you can buy a house. You’re not ‘poor’.

5’9 isn’t bad, 70% of women will happily date you at that height.

Too it all off , average = white. You can’t get statistically get better than being white.

Sure, women aren’t lining up to meet you, but you should live a fairly average life, with an expected 3-6 girlfriends by the time you’re 35. That’s pretty good all things considered.

Avg money now, again 50% better and below, but the key is , it's not necessarily the same people. Some better looking guys, make less for example.

Avg socially , same thing.

So, having all of those 3 big items, be avg, you are doing better than I'd say 60- 70% of guys. Nothing wrong with that. Will you be a stand out, no.

You want to stand out, work out and get fit.

A man being well rounded is much better than a man maxing in one area to overcompensate for short comings. It should be said that women are never truly satisfied to the point never desiring more, there are no guaranteed outcomes even if you're above average. But the man can be much more secure knowing that there's nothing about himself that is negative factor, he just wasn't enough.

I think this idea of rating someone as an "average/above average/below average/whatever" person in general is dumb and pointless. Different people value different things and there's no objective standard of a person's worth.

So I'm going to assume you're talking about dating given the sub we're on. I also think using your dating success as a metric of your value as a person is also a really bad and misguided idea. Anyway, when I say average here I mean median, and I'm assuming the same from your post.

Someone who is average in everything is slightly above average overall in the dating market. This is just because, in most aspects it hurts you to be below average more than it helps you to be above average. It's really hard to make up for being really ugly or having a really shitty/awkward/negative personality even if you're great at something else. Most people would pick someone completely average over someone with a big flaw in one or more areas.

The question is what does average look like socially for you in terms of personality. Does average mean the person is boring and has no interests? That would seem to mean they are deficient in some way, wouldn't it - less than average?

So, if average in this regard is actually fully functional, pleasant but maybe not outstanding in terms of being funny or charming, then the question becomes the eternal one of WHAT IS THE GOOD? Is it something only achieved through positive actions? Or is it simply the absence of evil?

For every person that is average at wealth but is attractive, there will be a person that is average at wealth but is NOT attractive. Thats how averages work.

And comparing these two, the person who is average at wealth and looks IS AVERAGE because he is better than the 2nd person but worse than the 1st, and is average out of the three.

The only way you would be right is if people had extreme preferences, like if they prefer money soo much that they are willing to accept the horrendous looks for even a slight above average income. But most people have balanced preferences.

The more metrics you have at least with the average result, the more you stand out. There is a difference between the average and the median. Being average in most things means better than 50%, often among the best 30%.

If you mean that the person will be only a walking statistical average without a single unique feature, you're right because he wouldn't be human. And he would also be absolutely exceptional.

If you mean he will be for example a white man, 20-30 metrics with an average result, then there are still hundreds and thousands of things left to distinguish him from all the others. Favorite songs, a unique smile, the way he reacts when there is a storm or maybe his hobbies. And thanks to the fact that he has no significant shortcomings in things that are a dealbreaker, he is in fact definitely among the top 20% men.

OP doesn't understand how statistics work. Being average across the board usually makes a person higher than average. It means you don't have a weakness. Most people have weaknesses.

Most people, women and men, are average (5-6/10) in both looks and in wealth. And average does mean doing good, but not exceptional.

Stable job with relatively good income, and looking good but nowhere close to being a model.

And that's a 100x better than doing bad in any of those two categories. Oh no I have a good income and am looking pretty good. What a load of bullshit.

Usually looks, money, and status go hand in hand. The probability of finding someone extra ordinary in one, and below average in the others is extremely low.

Standing out in one of the aspects, is definitely better than being average in all of them, because that gives you an edge in filling a niche.
