I had been finding this withdrawing attention to discourage bad behavior a bit covert. I am not saying its not effective. Just saying that I wish there was a more overt approach.

Yesterday, my wife was being too much of a bitch and I went into my IDGAF attitude. I know for a fact I didn’t act butt-hurt. (I have lots of years of beta behavior to know what butt-hurt means). Next morning, she came to make up but said that she doesn’t like that I punish her by not talking to her. I did respond with AA and the day went fine but on reflection I did feel my sudden withdrawing attention does come off as covert. I feel that no matter how subtle I am, I am still withdrawing attention and she knows it. Not sure if there is a more over approach or something I can do so she doesn’t feel punished ?

EDIT: We did some couples therapy 2 years ago when i was beta-extreme. One of the things i was told by the counselor was that I can't punish her if she doesn't listen to me. That its not right thing for me to do. The word "punishment" is still carrying on to our relationship and as you can see it gets associated with my IDGAF.
