I am a believer in, if it's your turn to go at a stop, you GO. But there are circumstances where it makes sense to wave someone by. If I do this, and the person then insists I go first, I go. Tell her to follow the rules because predictable behavior in those situations is far safer than being nice. Thats what the rules are for, so everyone knows what everyone else is going to do before they do it. Stop signs, turn signals, speed limits all make for a predictable environment. Shit goes wrong because people ignore them randomly in unpredictable ways.
Don't get me wrong I speed on the highways because I live in the states and they think our cars can't go faster than 65mph without blowing up aparantly. But neighborhoods, school zones, cities, follow the rules because there is already enough going on.
And for FUCKS SAKE learn how to merge at speed!!!!

To add, the left lane isn't a fast lane. It is a passing lane. So many people where I live, Seattle, do not understand this. The speed limit is 60, people go closer to 80. Just because you're going 63, does not constitute using the "fast" lane. I swear people think as long as they are going above the speed limit, the person trying to pass is a dick and they are justified to be in that lane, even if there are a line of twenty cars behind them. This creates a dangerous situation as well, where people are going to start passing on the right, which make traffic jams and merge problems worse on top of the increased risk. Please everyone, the left lane is for passing, not for driving fast. Once you pass someone and the middle lane is again open, go back, don't stay in the passing lane. Always! It is a good driving practice to try and make a habit of. I can't stand people driving in the passing lane on an empty highway. It just makes me think you don't understand the basic concepts of driving on a highway and are a big part of why traffic jams happen.

I actually wouldn't do it for myself. I do it to be more broadly appealing to others, and currently to my boyfriend in particular. I think there is a common misconception that women do all these things for themselves. While that may be true for some women, I bet a lot would rather save their money and time to do more productive/interesting things. Unfortunately, adhering to the constructs of female beauty has practical benefits. I don't like it, but it's real.

If you need to leave it's pretty much expected of you to leave enough money for the check and a way for her to get home which is kind of horseshit. I went on a date, we went to eat and then she wanted to go to a club. When we got there I realized I only had large bills and the entry was like $10 each so I asked her she could pay for this and I'll get change inside. She told me that she didn't bring enough money. I was beyond pissed. I've already spent a good $80 by that time and surely I would be spending at least $80 more in the club, not including the ride home.

Out of curiousity, how would she act if she was actually planning to pay with her credit card?
Would she not use a Credit Card and use cash instead? Would she not hold out the Credit Card to pay the cashier? Would she just try and steal it?
Posts like this bother me because I think the assumption is that she is instantly trying to pull some sort of trick on us. However, had the guy not offered she would be forced to pay.
Let us assume another scenario. Let us assume she is genuine. Let us assume that she was willing to pay and the other man offered to pay instead, with no ill intent. When she pulls away to let the man give up his Credit Card, the cashier grabs hers forcefully and she acts surprised.
Would you expect her to act any other way? I know I would have been surprised, regardless of whether it was genuine or not. The cashier is ignoring the obvious nonverbal intents of both paying parties. I would act surprised too, and probably be pissed at the cashier.
So my question is, given just the scene from this gif, how can you assume this was a trick? If we can rule out the way she reacted and the fact that she decided to give someone her credit card (god forbid someone present a Credit Card to pay for things)...what is it within this gif that tells you for certain she had ill-intent?
P.S. I recognize that the intent of this scene/commercial was probably to highlight this issue. I also recognize that this is an actual issue that occurs (especially with things like getting free drinks at bars). However, you cannot assume that every time this happens it is a dastardly deed from some evil-doer trying to scam someone. If presenting a Credit Card and being surprised when the cashier does something abnormal are, alone, reasons for assuming ill-intent, then we have some more serious intellectual issues on our hands.

Stereotypes like this will never be perfectly accurate, but they exist because their occurrence is common enough to be recognized widely by others, hence a stereotype.
Also, you're in a thread specifically about women trying to sidestep equality for their own benefit. This is especially frustrating given the current social climate surrounding these issues. No one likes a hypocrite, and that's pretty much why this sub exists.
