The problem is that men are getting overly harsh punishments, not that she is getting a lenient punishment. The solution is to give men equally small punishments. Her life should not be ruined because she had sex with somebody a few years younger, and neither should a man's life.

Role reversal if it were a girl who was older than 12 and younger than 17 and the teacher was a male:

"Sure, she might have consented, but she is underage and doesn't know how to make good decsions for herself and he abused his power."

All you hear this time around:

"Oh come on, you know he wanted it!"

Could you imagine if we said "Oh come on, you know she wanted it!" about female victims?

Not that it's not a double standard, but she didn't just get probation. She also can't work near children or teach, which is a pretty big deal when that's her only profession.

Same thing happened in kansas I'm friends with the guys that did it and she got probation cuz they didn't want her to do jail cuz they wanted it. I'm drunk and did not read the story but this may have occurred.
