So, at some point, this sentence needs to become a critical part of the legal conversation. This is why I am here. A reasonable woman and man, who cannot make a relationship work, but remain communicative because of mutual respect as parents, are not the concern. It's the women who eat and drink control because the legal system has granted them ABSOLUTE POWER over a man's primary weakness... his flesh and blood. This is not to say that men are not abusive or at fault, but to say that women REALLY DO THIS. Lots of women, really, really, do this. And each time they are successful, other jaded women are encouraged to do this.

CHILDREN ARE NOT FUCKING LEVERAGE

The behavior is like clockwork in some situations. There needs to be some sort of legal precedent set up to, FIRST recognize it, then prevent it, and even punish it if it goes to far. Obviously in the case above, nothing would have stopped this evil person, but the "Control freak who doesn't want to share the children." is incredibly common.

What a shame. If she had told the court of her plans, they probably would've given her 200% of her husband's salary and then sentenced the man for not having it.

This idea that people are not responsible for their actions when they put themselves into an altered state HAS GOT TO STOP. That is NOT an acceptable defense and it's sick that it ever works. That said, it's good that didn't happen this time.

"I'm going to make your life hell unless you do X"

A very common theme in all of the stuff MRA posts. Seen it in countless posts about a boyfriend and girlfriend, and the boy is on this sub asking WTF do I do, she is saying that she will say I raped her or hit her if I don't do what she wants.

Obviously this case was more tragic, but women who think this way (and men, of course) are out there in abundance. We just enable the women. I mean, I bet she honestly had no idea that it was wrong to feel entitled to the kids and the full paycheck. I mean, we live in a culture that cheers on the wives of celebrities (Vanessa Bryant, etc) for "taking their husband to the cleaners". I know girls (and some selfhating guys) who take perverse pleasure in these sort of cases where women get it their way, regardless of who gets trampled, and these arent like far-out radical feminist bloggers, these are just young educated women.

Most people grow up thinking that the right thing to do is to unconditionally let the mother have the child and support her any way you can, because if you don't, you're a deadbeat shitty ass dad, and if you do fight for involvement, you are "confusing" the kid, and just making everyone's life complicated for no reason. Because you, a man, can just pump out more money, and you don't need the child in your life, because men don't have that calling anyway.

I mean, society didn't teach this woman to be a murderer. But I'd bet anything that it did give her this entitlement to have her cake and eat it too, at the expense of the husband. She probably had a gaggle of friends, cheering her on and sharing tips to take the man for all he's got. She probably had been raised to think it is always best for the child to have the mother over the father, and there is no point to actually sitting down and thinking about who honestly would give the kids a better life.

So it is a shame is this going to be filed away as "this crazy bitch did some wacko shit" in the collective mind of our nation rather than prompting a discussion about what attitudes does our current legal system enforce?

This angry, controlling, calculating woman was stopped because she did something extreme. But the countless other controlling, angry, calculating woman are given a green light to get the kids, a paycheck, and the moral confirmation that they are doing the right thing.

I find it odd that the father wasn't interviewed at all. There wasn't even a "this man declined to comment". He just lost his two children, and they didn't even let him speak.
