This is a long self-post that explains why I am MRA and details some of the problems men face by sharing my story. I believe it is a justified post under the moderation policy because it opens up multiple avenues for discussion on men's rights and the methods of change.

Yes, I am only 18 years old. I go to college studying television production. I live with my mother because my father died from cancer (and he was a drug-addicted alcoholic abusive father during his life). I am currently unemployed (I do have a temporary construction job that only comes up once in a while, more details below.) I am a white male, and I have been a victim of (reverse) racism, sexism, classism, and anti-intellectualism. I will try to focus on the sexism here, but the other problems are related, so just bare with me.

Skipping over the whole life story, I will try my best to only outline the sexism I have been a victim of.

1) My mom is a hardcore, violent feminism extremist. She believes that women are superior to men in everything. She wants to exterminate the male gender because she claims we are useless. If someone tells her that she would be destroying women, since they need men to reproduce, she argues that women can use in-vitro with stored sperm. Her sexism is often taken out on me, because I am her oldest son (I have a brother and sister who are twins 5 years younger than me), and I am old enough to be independent. Most of the following are because of her

2) I currently have a temporary job in construction, which pays minimum wage ($7.25/h) because I am not old enough or experienced enough for a more relaxed job. I wanted to work in a private security firm, but in my area I need to be 21. I also would have preferred an office job, but the sexism sets in here: men are "incompetent at work that requires intelligence" and I therefore are too stupid to get a job outside of construction.

3) At my high school, I was discriminated because I was a man, I was a "rockero" (I live in Puerto Rico. "rockeros" are people who listen to rock, as opposed to "reggeatoneros" who listen to reggaeton. That is a form of anti-intellectualism, since on our island, regardless of what you actually listen to, the "reggeatoneros" were anyone in the ghettos or who acted like they were, and "rockeros" were people who were intelligent, and tried to make a decent living), and because I was passionate about drama.

4) My ex-girlfriend was physically abusive, to the point where she would attack me and bruise me in public. If a police or security officer saw it, he would ignore it. If I said anything, I was told to "stop being a pussy and move on." If I used my self-defense training (I have always been a victim of bullying, more below), I would be detained for assault & battery. Never charged, but detained by security. And then get lectured by my mom for being "disrespectful to women." I would be shouted at and told that I would amount to nothing, that I would be a drunk like my father, that I have to take it because all I am is a tool to be used by the girl. And on and on and on.

5) I was bullied at school and if I tried to get help, I would be ignored and the problem would worsen. If I defended myself, I would be punished. I was eventually arrested and sent to a "behavioral rehabilitation center" whose specialty was "re-educating troubled youth". The female psychiatrist read my auto-biography (which I was forced to write in order to get more privileges) and said, exact quote "you made all this shit up. You are a worthless piece of shit who thrives on drama and pity. You are pathetic and useless. Go back to the classroom and grow some balls, you fucking cunt." I was prescribed anti-psychotics by the doctors. After I got out, I was denied re-admittance into the school because I was a "danger to myself and others due to my mental stability" as a result of the prescription. The doctors at that complex were arrested and charged for prescribing that medication to young people who didn't need it. They were being bribed by the medicine manufacturer. I was not allowed back at my school. The police wanted me to appear in court, but never told me when. I left the state to move to Puerto Rico over 9 months after the original incident. I can no longer return to the state because there is a warrant for my arrest for not appearing in court on the date that they never told me.
