Seriously, what is the point of writing that?

It doesn't help a male who has been raped, and if anything just makes them less likely to seek help.

EDIT: I'd expect a rape support service to do a bit more than just 'acknowledge' that males can be raped and females can be the rapists.

The part that struck me as somewhat unnecessary and even a bit offensive is quoted below: "Most perpetrators of sexual violence are male and most victims are female. Most sexual violence is committed by men known to the women and girls they abuse, however, Rape Crisis (England and Wales) acknowledges that boys and men are sexually assaulted and that some perpetrators of sexual assault are women. If you are a man or a boy that has recently experienced rape, you may find it difficult to talk about your experience for fear of being ridiculed or not believed." The first paragraph is completely unneeded in a page for male victims. It is great that you acknowledge that males can be victims, but I don't think a recently abused male needs to read that first paragraph. To be specific, stating that men are usually the perpatrators and women are victims does nothing to help actual victims of sexual assault. In your second paragraph, you note that males may find their rape difficult to talk about; could this be because of the attitude expressed in your first paragraph? I would like to see this page rewritten to be more receptive to victims. Thank you for your time, Brock

If you actually take the full quote it makes much more sense. It acknowledges a general bias that rape is seen with a female victim BUT stresses it can happen to men too.

Sorry, didn't get that impression at all. OP is editorialising.

EDIT: With this much editorialising and bias going on, and the mods openly defensive (and complicit), I think that's enough r/MR for me. Being this one-sided and refusing to see past anything other than purely males-as-victims orientated opinions (like the OP's title) is an excellent example of how easy it is to be just as extreme as the feminists that are complained about, which isn't what I thought MensRights was about. The funny part is that neither side would ever accept that this is the case, as if their opinion alone is enough to assert that such observations and parallels are irrelevant.

So, since I appear to have been mistaken, it's unsub time - enjoy your circlejerk, but don't pretend it's anything else.
