If men are going to be forced to financially support a woman through pregnancy then men also need

The right to opt out. Just like she has the right to opt out through abortion.
Equal say in financial decisions regarding the pregnancy
Some way to regain the money back, or maybe some type of insurance in case she lied about him being the father.

I'm 9 months pregnant with a planned child and I think this is ridiculous. Pregnancy is extraordinarily difficult and expensive but if your partner is unsupportive emotionally and financially then youre probably not with someone who really wants to be in that child's life anyway. Not only that but extra money for pregnancy certainly isnt going to discourage unplanned pregnancies.

As long as a woman can make all the choices when it comes to deciding if the man becomes a parent or not then she can pay for it herself.

Let me see if I got this right.

Woman gets to choose to have sex.
Woman gets to choose the form of birth control, if any.
Woman gets to choose whether to get an abortion.
These are all woman's rights, because it's her body. Man has no say in any of it. Yet if she chooses to get pregnant, and it's a choice only the woman can make, the man has to pay for half of it?

This would be acceptable only if:

Man has a choice of legal paternal surrender.
Mandatory DNA test before the man has to pay the fees.

This way the man can choose to be a father, and the woman can choose to be a mother. Equality for both genders. (Isn't that what feminism strives for?)

This is an absolutely horrible idea, and one that doesn't stand up under critical examination (or any kind of equality laws).

Women are the ones that choose to have sex. Women are the ones with dozens of effective birth control options to avail themselves of. Women are the ones who bear the heavy burden or pregnancy, birth or abortion. Women are the only ones who can dictate what they do with their bodies.

The biological role is not equal. The rights of the two parties are not equal. One side has all of them (rightfully so), the other has none. Responsibility without authority or equality has no place in a free and democratic country. Hiding this behind "Women & Children" will not save it.

If she has the only choice in birth, abortion, or adoption, then its only her responsibility. Until you allow me to have reproductive rights equal to hers she can bear that burden alone. I'm speaking as a man that was a victim of false paternity, that was quite possibly the worst 9 months of my life.

Yes, yes, we have heard this before, but really, this shit is out of hand. People bitch moan and complain about "unwanted" or "mistimed" pregnancies and how much it sucks. If you do not want it to happen, then don't bump uglies, simple as that.

Also, preglimony is possibly the worst idea I have heard of so far this year.

A lot of you seem to have missed this important section:

Currently, any financial help a man contributes toward his lover's pregnancy is considered a gift or child support, and thus offers him no tax benefits. Alimony payments do, however, and she argues preglimony should, too. Not only will it "reward and encourage men who are prepared to support their pregnant lovers," but it will lessen the need for shotgun marriages that often lead to divorce.

That's not to say it should embrace pregnancies resulting from nonconsensual sex, including sex in which a woman knowingly and deceitfully gets pregnant. Nor should it be required; she believes couples should be able to opt out.

Edit: I don't support this unless it were totally voluntary and opt-in for tax benefits, but acting like she wants to FORCE men to do this shows a lack of reading comprehension.
