...because boy band celebrities are attractive, talented, famous, hot, can sing, dance, wear fashionable clothes, style their hair and take care of their skin and have good composure in front of thousands of fans? Is there a reason for girls to NOT like boy band celebrities over rando boys?

Maybe you're just missing the forest through the trees focusing on "sexually obsess", as women aren't just hysterically masturbating in their rooms, they treat following boy bands as a kind of fun fan community, they share posters and pictures and learn the dances and sing the songs, get together and go to concerts together as a group outing. It's a form of entertainment. You know... "FUN"?

The goal of boy bands is to entertain girl fans. Boy bands that succeed result in girls bein entertained. Everyone likes to be entertained, especially when that entertainment is curtailed to our own demographic.

This is like saying "Why don't MEN CHEER for normie men the way they cheer for WWF wrestlers???"

If anything, a girl being "real" and attainable in real life makes her even more attractive vs. having a celebrity crush on someone who you'll never even meet, let alone have a relationship with.

I don't think that's true at all. Boys/men and girls/women alike fantasize and obsess over attractive celebrities. You don't think attractive female celebrities get creepy fan mail, harassed, stalked, threatened, and nude photos leaked?

If anything, your comparison just shows that female sexual attention (i.e., fangirling) is more harmless while male sexual attention is more threatening/harmful.

Women love men who are out of their reach. That is why they obsess over the lover whom they can never domesticate, and gradually lose attraction for men who commit too deeply.

Having said that, the dynamic you mentioned is a safe way of expressing and exploring their sexuality. It is a fantasy and people often find that they do not actually want to perform their fantasies in real life.

When I was growing up every boy in my neighbourhood had the same poster of Farrah Fawcett on their wall.

While they didn't giggle over her like the girls with Shawn Cassidy or Andy Gibb on their walls they certainly were all jacking to the same poster.
