Feminism (at least the most prominent online forms) is Toxic, extremely hateful and anti male.

Before you write me off as some woman hater as is apparently often the case I am a woman. And I used to call myself a feminist for many years. I've done volunteer work to help educate women in third world countries. But I've also seen and heard the stories of the droves of men in homeless shelters and soup kitchens.

And when I came onto a men's issues advocate on tiktok I started looking into them.

And I found a feminist friendly men's issues sub. But as I looked more and more I found posts and comments critical of feminism.

So I went to the askfeminists sub. Because I thought asking about it would help me to understand more why even on a pro feminist sub there were so many viewpoints critical of feminism. And they wouldn't allow me to make any posts to ask about it

So I looked through the sub and found several examples of self proclaimed feminists just dismissing people based on their gender. Or assuming that when they talked about their issues they were doing so to discount women. Just giving people the least charitable interpretation.

And I wrote a comment expressing that this is not the movement I thought I supported. For this I was banned.

I started looking more and more and started to see that the movement I thought I supported was rife with hate. People with extremely biased or outright false perspectives on history.

I saw people scrambling to denounce the more extreme feminists as "not real feminists" while simultaneously making a mockery of innocent men who didn't want to accept the blame for the wrongs of a select few other members of their gender.

Yes. Some men are in power. This does not carry over to all others.

Yes. Men were expected to be the leaders of their households in the past. But a lead serf in a house of serfs is still a serf. Just with the added peril of the sword of Damocles. and a number of other responsibilities.

Yes. Men have societal and institutional issues. Some of which are even caused by feminists!

I went to the men's rights sub. Honestly expecting to get the same treatment. but they were warm. and welcoming. and answered all my questions.

They showed me how feminists in positions of power have done horrible things because of their belief that men are inherently violent privileged oppressors.

They told me how a common argument they see is that "men just need to make their own movement" And then showed me examples of young men trying to start men's groups only to be shut down by pre-existing feminist ones that offered the alternative of “bringing self-identified men together to talk about masculinity and its harmful effects.”

And most of them told me that they too once identified as feminists. but stopped because they came to the same conclusions I did.

This is NOT the movement for equality I supported.

If you identify yourself as a feminist. And really believe in equality. Take a serious look into what you're supporting. Listen to people on the other side. And really tackle your biases. Men are not the violent oppressors people have lead you to believe.
