There is a lot to unpack in this situation and it’s awful all around. The gist of it is this man shows to his ex wife’s to pick up his son, the ex’s new boyfriend starts talking smack to him they argue, the Bf gets a gun, Read tries to grab the gun and bf pushes him away and shoots him Read. Bf claims self defense and Castle Doctrine. This man just wanted to see his son and got killed for it. I know that there a lot of broad issues in this, but a man losing his life for exercising his rights to see his son is wrong. Castle doctrine shouldn’t apply when a man is at the “castle” for one of his few opportunities to see his son

Ah I think I saw a video about this on Reddit a while ago.

This ex-boyfriend will walk away having killed the father of his step-child mainly because Read attempted to talk the gun away from him and threatened to kill the ex-boyfriend with the gun.

Not sure how this sub feels about gun rights but if there wasn't a gun, this wouldn't have been a deadly altercation.
