It's going to backfire if it goes to court, and they try to claim aggravating circumstances based on gender. A smart solicitor will be able to ask the police to provide evidence of misandry being applied and prosecuted against their known bias, as already demonstrated in their statement( god.. don't they ever practice due diligence??)

Like they said. it's not recorded as a hate crime ( which is laughable as they have already been overloaded by "hate crime " reporting)

So It's going to be based on "feelings" and opinions not fact, which will give the legal defence a field day in court against the police...

Male on male hostility needs to be seen as misandry and androphobia needs to recognized at the core of homophobia and racism.

When people start seeing these things for what they are maybe people will realize the fraud and hate movement feminism is and start putting resources where they're actually needed.

I would rather they just drop it. Rather than also making it a crime for women to look at men, the progressive thing to do would be to not use the police to impose skme set of gendered sensitivities on communities.

Especially considering their definition. Like, most states have an aggravating factor for "hate motivated behavior" which makes some sense. Going around hating, say, French people is not a crime. However, if one goes around assaulting people who one suspects of having French heritage, that is clearly a crime. That one is likely to lads out and commit crimes based on their hatred for a perceived identifiable group, makes them more of a menace to society than the person who has more run of the mill anger issues and punches someone out for not apologizing when they bump into them on the street. However, prejudical attitude alone is not sufficient to demonstrate that it was motivated by hate.

Then I got to the last page. As u/Roninizer points out: "as part of our commitment to ending violence against women and girls," but no mention of ending violence against men and boys.

Oh, and the idea of the popo 'recording hate speech' worries me. A lot. If they're gonna do it, they should do it equally - but they shouldn't do it. Will they start recording the Two Minutes Hate against men? How will the BBC hold up under misandry laws, if they're actually enforced two ways?

I don't want to complain too much because at least they recognized misandry, but it's very obviously lip service. They created a program designed with misogyny in mind, then slapped a "/misandy" on the end without actually adjusting anything to meaningfully address misandry. I guess that's why it's flagged "progress" and not "victory."

White Ribbon isn't a neutral organisation. They frame domestic violence as a gendered issue. I don't know much about Hate Hurts other than it's a Police campaign going from a website I found (link below)

The police have been pushing for more people to report hate crime. If you phone the non-emergency number there's a recorded message stating you can report it as an hate incident even if you don't believe it was

Will just have to see it pans out

Well they at least admitted that misandry exists but they conveniently defined misandry/misogyny with actions that are most of the time targeted at women.

They had the perfect opportunity to add in emotional abuse, physical abuse while expecting not to get hit back and false accusations as examples of misandry.

The things they listed are sexual assault / harassment. ‘Online abuse’ and the others are only misogyny or misandry if they are expressly done with a sexist mindset. like if a man calls a woman an idiot online, that’s not misogyny; ‘stupid bloody female’ is misogyny.

Despite the fact that there is a clear bias here towards misandry, I tend to agree with the way this is flaired.

It may be biased. It may be lip service. Nothing good may actually come out of this program.

This is still progress.

The fact that misandry is now being acknowledged as a negative thing is absolutely amazing, even if they don't do anything about it. This is a sign that something is getting through to the folks in power that misandry is beginning to be an unignorable issue (not that we could ever afford to ignore it, or that it was ever a "small" issue, but rather that so much attention is being put on it that it can't be ignored for much longer).

Furthermore, this may well communicate to some men out there the fact that all of those issues listed on the second image are in fact issues that they don't have to put up with, and will no doubt drum up more support for this movement in the long run.

This is still publicity, and as someone once said, "There is no such thing as bad publicity."

From the description it's already obvious that it's not gonna be used neutral nor in contexts where misandry is common. Typical scenarios that happen to women (unwanted advances, catcalling) are included, however typical scenarios that happen to men (statements like "kill all men"/"men are trash", treating you as a potential criminal because of your gender, etc.) are not included.

The fact that the organization behind it (White Ribbon) has a history of misandry itself and the slogan being used is "end male violence against women" shows that this was not by chance and they have no intention of helping men targeted by misandry. They've already decided who are the victims and the culprits here.
