"#MeToo is over if we don’t listen to ‘imperfect victims’ like Amber Heard"; Gross article denies Men can be victims of abuse & encourages people to never believe Men. Individuals such as this are why so many Men feel uncomfortable about opening up or seeking support.

There is a major social issue that we as a society do not and can not even acknowledge that men are the overwhelming majority of victims of war. They are pushed to, expected to and sometimes even forced to fight and die a violent bloody death in combat, but women are not; the only difference? Their sex.

The sexist and unequal Empathy Gap is one of the major cancers plaguing modern society.

[–]TheRealMekkor 67 points68 points69 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Another factor to consider is the majority of time the rich elites don't actually fight or die in wars they most likely had a hand in starting.

That's why they pay young economically challenged men.

Or promise them an opportunity of free higher education.

[–]raclnp7 points 4 years ago [recovered] (6 children) | Copy Link

You can remove the "young", they pay everyone they can get, just that younger tend to have less money, but that's not true anymore since a long time. Many people are jobless today, young or not.

[–]TheRealMekkor 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I'm from America, so my experiences are culturally American. In the US our draft and enlistment cut off age is below 40. Which in my opinion is relatively young.

[–]raclnp5 points 4 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Look at Ukraine, it goes up to 60 in case of war. So it affects many men. In the world wars, everyone was enlisted, including actually old men, in their 70s and more.

It's just a matter of time.

Also if you are a well trained soldier, you will still fight, if your skills are in demand.

But I agree, 40+ is still pretty young, especially today.

[–]TheRealMekkor 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah I understand it's different across the world, my experience is only in the US. Currently we're facing a new problem where too many of our men are morbidly obese to qualify for enlistment.

I'm sure if times were dire and we were desperate they would take anybody, but it's almost getting to the point where we are getting to fat and sick to defend ourselves.

[–]MiXeD-ArTs 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I believe it's only 18-25. I was stoked to come off the list and female friends were like who the hell is excited and thinks about that. The people on the list think about it... must be nice to completely forget that list exists. Now I am able to and it is nice

[–]TheRealMekkor 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I believe that's the cut off for registration in the US but if they need you they will pull you up to the age of 35.

I'm finishing college for a nursing degree and the using that degree to enroll in the Air Force as an officer. The age limit for that is between 18=48 so it's kinda a mixed bag with the military.

[–]Sexy-beast-20 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is why i will refuse to fight another mans war. Ive allways been baffled that men are willing to rie for rich politicians who started the war, my thinking is who ever starts the war, they should be first into battle and all there family should be first to die. I take jail. If they can catch me.

There are STILL obvious feminists lurking in our sub, posing as Mens Rights Supporters, who are claiming "its WORSE for women by FAR cuz of the rapes"... We MUST call out these femlurkers for what they are.

Btw, not as if men dont get raped in wars too as torture-but the men get raped with wooden splintered BROOM HANDLES. Until they DIE from the wounds it causes. And men get tortured for WEEKS until they BEG for death. And men know if they die, being the main breadwinner for the family, the family will struggle.

Meanwhile, a statistically SMALL number of women get raped while HUNDREDS, THOUSANDS of men DIE/get tortured like this.

But all we hear about? "der poor womenz oh mah god!"

If you see this shit, call the poster out.

No more femlurkers in our subs.

someone has to take care of the children. men who go to war do so as a unit, typically given training, are paid to participate, in general are cared for. Women are often left to fend for themselves and any children whos care falls on them, they can become victims of violence often sexual violence, often must flee their homes and leave their country with little or nothing. war is terrible, it affects everyone. it doesnt need to be a competition, headlines are indended to be sensational, I wouldnt put much stock into what a headline says about anything. it is reasonable to look at how war impacts people in different ways depending on how they relate to the society theybare in and the conflict they are a victim of.

Meanwhile the rape of little boys is enabled simply for strategic reasons. Western nations will put soldiers to work standing guard over it.

More than half of the world’s conflict-related refugee population is made up of women and children.

Of course it is, the men are being forced to stay behind, fight and die. I bet they wish they could be refugees.

[–]p3ngwin 44 points45 points46 points 4 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link

3 Things to Know About How War Impacts Women and Girls:

1) The biggest risk they face is gender-based violence. Women and girls are exposed to unprecedented rates of sexual violence, abuse, and torture in war conditions.

2) Conflict enforces the objectification of women and girls, as they are often seen as weapons of war, being used by perpetrators of violence to assert control.

3) More than half of the world’s conflict-related refugee population is made up of women and children.

  1. i would have thought the BIGGEST gender-based risk is literally being a man forced to fight and die, but whatever eh ?
  2. I would have thought literally being forced to fight and die because you're a man is LITERALLY the definition of being "objectified", and used as a "weapon of war" ?
  3. what a surprise, when you literally force men to fight and die, you don't get many male refugees ?

[–]Icy-Start5536 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

1) Men are the sole victims of crucifixion and being set ablaze shortly after (while still being alive), the Azov battalion is known for those things and there are videos on telegram.

[–]DavidByron2 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You're taking their claims as true and contextualizing them. But they're not even true in some technical sense.

Men are sexually assaulted more in war than women. Women are treated better all across the board.

Men are the majority of refugee immigrants (as opposed to the refugees officially counted because they sit back near home in some camp getting cared for).

[–]p3ngwin 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

You're taking their claims as true and contextualizing them.

No, i'm refuting their bullshit claims.

[–]Leever5 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Can I have a source that says men are sexually assaulted more than women in war? Just looking that if I use this in an argument that it won’t backfire on me somehow

[–]DavidByron2 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Probably not since the gendercide site got shut down. They had some stuff about that although it might be on the internet archive / wayback machine. In general rape of men is more systematic and rape of women is more sort of incidental. at any rate you can rest assured that nobody's going to be providing evidence against it either.

I just tried Googling "male rape victims of war in africa ignored"

https://www.chathamhouse.org/2019/01/ignoring-male-victims-sexual-violence-conflict-short-sighted-and-wrong

It is commonly cited that women and girls are disproportionately the victims of sexual violence in conflict, but this view is increasingly coming under challenge. Over the last two decades, a growing body of evidence has documented the prevalence of sexual violence against men and boys in a wide variety of conflict settings, indicating that numbers of male victims are significantly higher than initially presumed. For example, in Liberia, a survey found that a third of male ex-combatants had experienced sexual violence, while a similar study in the Democratic Republic of the Congo reported that a quarter of men in conflict affected areas had experienced sexual violence.

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2011/jul/17/the-rape-of-men

During his escape from the civil war in neighbouring Congo, he had been separated from his wife and taken by rebels. His captors raped him, three times a day, every day for three years. And he wasn't the only one. He watched as man after man was taken and raped. The wounds of one were so grievous that he died in the cell in front of him.

Her study Male Rape and Human Rights notes incidents of male sexual violence as a weapon of wartime or political aggression in countries such as Chile, Greece, Croatia, Iran, Kuwait, the former Soviet Union and the former Yugoslavia. Twenty-one per cent of Sri Lankan males who were seen at a London torture treatment centre reported sexual abuse while in detention. In El Salvador, 76% of male political prisoners surveyed in the 1980s described at least one incidence of sexual torture. A study of 6,000 concentration-camp inmates in Sarajevo found that 80% of men reported having been raped.

While the women were sent off to prepare food and coffee, ... Eleven rebels waited in a queue and raped Jean Paul in turn. When he was too exhausted to hold himself up, the next attacker would wrap his arm under Jean Paul's hips and lift him by the stomach. He bled freely: "Many, many, many bleeding," he says, "I could feel it like water." Each of the male prisoners was raped 11 times that night and every night that followed.

https://www.jstor.org/stable/26593650

A lot of pages keep worshiping the feminist teat by saying "while there is not doubt" that women are raped more, of course there's no evidence of that at all. Rape as a tool of war is aimed at men, not women. Women are raped in war as an incidental to the war, not as a policy.

[–]Maffioze 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The second one is really the most laughable one. I mean seriously who writes these things. They could have written something else, like how women are used to torture the men that love them but weapons of war lmao. What do they think a conscripted soldier is.

in some ways we are the primary victims of sexual assault:

most men don't report assault, women assume men always want sex, noone takes us seriously when we do report it, we get much harsher penalties than women for the same crime, we are victims of false accusations, we have less parental rights.

that's just 6 from the top of my head. (western) women are running out of issues to victimize themselves over & they know it

[–]Leever5 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Can I have a source for the false accusations thing? I learned at uni that the number of false accusations at the legal level is very very low

I also learned that most women don’t report assault either.

Feminists when there's no draft:

"But we are against the draft too! It was feminists who allowed women to fight (only if they want of course, not like men). We're the ones who want to stop men from being forced to die in war!"

Feminists when there's a draft and only men are forced to stay and fight:

"Look, it's women who have it worse!"

It's one thing to deliberately ignore the extreme misandry of sending men to die because they are men (which already exposes feminism's hypocrisy). It's another thing already to forcefully contribute to the issue not being recognized by repeatedly claiming it's the other way around. But remember, "feminists fight for men too".

[–]Mcnst 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is especially a problem with mandatory conscription.

You know Elon Musk? He left South Africa to avoid conscription. Many others left South Africa, too. Also Russia during Chechen wars.

It should be deemed a violation of human rights to have mandatory conscription. Noone should be forced to fight in wars of the politicians. It should be a violation of human rights and a war crime to supply weapons to insurgents, nonprofessional armies or conscripts.

[–][deleted] 35 points36 points37 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Every man being forced to go into war and a military isn't being a voluntary service with high standards about who they accept is even the reason the front lines end up having criminals and deranged people. Nobody denies that they're out there, but everybody denies that the issue is conscription. However enabling the occasional sadists to do whatever they want doesn't disprove the fact that not a single man has real human rights as recent events and official claims from all across the world have shown.

[–]McFeely_Smackup 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

More than half of the world’s conflict-related refugee population is made up of women and children.

This person is so deep down the well of male disposability, that ridiculous statements like this don't even register as questionable to them.

If an entire "family" were refugees together, husband-wife-children, then more than half are automatically women and children. The author literally defined a group that excludes men.

Where does this person think the men are?

[–]TheRealMekkor 18 points19 points20 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I always think of the Roy Orbison song There Won't Be Many Coming Home.

"Maybe 10 out of 20, but there won't be many. Maybe 5 out of 20, but there won't be many. If they all came back but one he was still some mother's son, and there won't be many coming home."

Paraphrased

But it's guaranteed that not all soldiers come back alive to their families.

[–]GltyUntlPrvnInncnt 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm sick of repeating this time and time again, but most men's issues are caused by gynocentrism and male disposability.

[–]NeoNotNeo 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

During war, men can’t properly worship women in exchange for sex. You know, like feminism instructs you to do so.

[–]oneknocka 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Theres no way this article makes sense to me. I cant find one angle.

[–]sexytimeinseattle 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Last time I got into this argument it was pointed out that surviving for 30 years and starving or subsisting on eg prostitution was worse than dying instantly during combat.

I agreed that it was worse, so then asked if it's that bad why doesn't the survivor just blow their brains out like the man did.

I guess surviving isn't really that bad or survivors would find another way to exit.

[–]oneknocka 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Very good point. That option is available for a survivor.

Or, if the prospect of being a survivor is so much worse then why not choose the better option, that is, why not join the front lines then?

[–]MezzaCorux 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How about we just choose a middle ground and say war sucks for everyone involved except the leaders that start it.

[–]Leever5 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agree. Don’t need this “wars worse for this person or this person”

Women are affected by war. Men are affected by war. Children are affected by war. Heck, even the non-binaires (or whatever the term is) are gonna he affected by war. We’re all affected, imagine if instead of playing the oppression olympics we all just don’t fight wars?

[+]StillNoFriendss -27 points-26 points-25 points 4 years ago (29 children) | Copy Link

I think its considered better to die in a war, than to be gangraped to death in front of your family.

Thats probably where people are coming from when they say women exoerience the worst of war.

Being a former Marine, I can whole heartly agree with that thought process.

[–]TheSpaceDuck 28 points29 points30 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Far more women fled the country than "got gangraped to death". In fact, all women were allowed to flee the country, as opposed to no men between 18 and 60.

Sure, you could say the few dozen women who get gangraped to death had it worst than the nearly 100% of men aged 18-60 who stayed behind to die. However turning that into a general "women had it worst than men" statement is messed up to say the least, and just shows how our culture has grown unable to feel empathy towards men.

[+]StillNoFriendss -17 points-16 points-15 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Yes I agree.

I figured the article was talking about wars in general and not just the Ukraine conflict.

I would rather be killed (the traditional way men are treated by invaders), than to become a sex slave to the people who murdered your family (the traditional way women are treated).

If you claim to disagree with that statement, you are a liar.

[–]TheSpaceDuck 18 points19 points20 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I don't know where you're trying to get with that. In any war there are far more male deaths than female deaths+rape combined. That's not exclusive to the Ukraine war. You should look at numbers from WWII and get a reality check.

You're insisting on the moot point that because a handful of women has it worse than thousands of men, "women have it worse than men" while ignoring that when we talk about men we're talking about most of the male population.

[+]StillNoFriendss -13 points-12 points-11 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

You're insisting on the moot point that because a handful of women has it worse than thousands of men, "women have it worse than men"

Stop putting words in my mouth, I was explaining where people who argue that are coming from. I never insisted on anything lol.

I am not saying that more women are raped than men are killed.

When women are victimized in war they are usually raped, or enslaved (usually sexual slavery). When men are victimized in war they are usually killed, or enslaved (usually physcial labour).

If I'm giving the choice between death, or sexual slavery I would prefer death. That is my opinion, and the opinion of 9/10 people on this sub, whether they admit it or not.

You can downvote me all you want, but you know its the truth.

In any war there are far more male deaths than female deaths+rape combined

I didn't claim otherwise.

You should look at numbers from WWII and get a reality check.

Again I don't need a reality check, because I already know that.

You are talking as if sexual abuse doesn't happen to men in wars, high time you do some reading

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2011/jul/17/the-rape-of-men

Sexual abuse is literally the most common type of abuse POWs face.

You are talking as if sexual abuse doesn't happen to men in wars.

No I'm not.

high time you do some reading

I am already well aware of it.

Is there anyone else here who is going to try and tell me what I said based off of purposly misinterpreting what I said?

Im sure at this point someone will throw in how I think only women fight wars, and men have never died in a war.

This is the problem with this subreddit, so much of the content is just people willingly misinterpreting what others say, so they have something to bitch about.

[–]brai117 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

your original point was "I'd rather be dead than gang raped to death in front of my family" no?

like 7 different people pointed out that, yeah a lot of soldiers are raped, then killed anyway.

and you basically just said Nuh uh, feeeeemales.

and hey, if rape is worse than death in war, why aren't rape victims putting a gun in their mouth and pulling the trigger.

[–]Leever5 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You said you’d rather die in the traditional way in war than be raped or a sex slave. I can’t believe the amount of people who are inferring on their own accord.

I agree 100%. I would rather be shot or bombed or gassed than be gang raped over and over again. If the time ever comes I’d pull the damn trigger myself

[–]Fearless-File-3625 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I can promise you that there will more men who will be gangraped, brutally tortured and murdered in Ukraine than women.

The fact that you are so clueless about war as a former Marine says a lot about how society tries to brainwash men into armed forces.

I can promise you that there will more men who will be gangraped

Oh boy.

The fact that you are so clueless about war

Oh boy. Look an armchair soldier is telling me he understands war more than someone who has been in a war. But lets ignore that.

How am I clueless exactly?

I did not say that I think women are the primary victims of war, I did not say that men are not murdered, I did not say that men are not tortured, I did not say that men are not raped.

Your ridiculous victim complex that you have built up around yourself, made it so you didn't read my comment properly.

I was explaining where they are coming from, I did not say I completely agree with that statement.

I agree that being gangraped is worse than being killed, but I don't think the victimization of women is more common than the victimization of men in war.

[–]Fearless-File-3625 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I did not say that I think women are the primary victims of war, I did not say that men are not murdered, I did not say that men are not tortured, I did not say that men are not raped.

"Thats probably where people are coming from when they say women exoerience the worst of war.
Being a former Marine, I can whole heartly agree with that thought process."

  1. You agree that women have worst experience of war.
  2. That means men have better experience of war.
  3. Ergo women are primary victims of war.

It is very easy to conclude that you think women are the primary victims of war from what you have previously commented.

gangraped to death

Literally doesn't happen to females in war, at least compared to the males. Only gangraped? Maybe. But even that is very rare when compared to the atrocities that happen to men. Soldiers very rarely go out of their way to deliberately kill women. Murders after rapes in peaceful times mostly happen because of the fear of getting caught, especially when the sentences for rape and murder are pretty much similar but that isn't the case in war.

The ones who do get "gangraped to death" and worse in war are the men.

Are you being serious lol?

It is theorized that nearly every woman in Berlin, and Nanjing was raped. Girls as young as 7 and women as old as 80. And that is just 2 cities in 1 war

And many were killed, especially in Nanjing because rape was "illegal" in the Japanese army, and dead people tell no tales.

I thought this was a legitimate subreddit?

Did I accidentally make my way into /r/conspiracy?

Denying facts only serve to hurt the cause, and make us look really fucking stupid. Stop being part of the problem please.

It is theorized that nearly every woman in Berlin, and Nanjing was raped. Girls as young as 7 and women as old as 80.

As opposed to many more men who were raped, tortured and killed (Edit: This doesn't mean more men were raped but that there were more male victims). I was talking in relative terms. There are no estimates regarding deaths by gender with regards to the Nanking massacre but I'm almost certain that far more men were killed there just like every other massacre.

Edit: And in most cases, things like the Nanking massacre are not an appropriate comparison because the civilians in Nanking didn't know that they would be occupied. When they do know that they would be occupied, women would be allowed to flee while men would be forced to stay.

[+]StillNoFriendss -7 points-6 points-5 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

YOU THINK MORE MEN WERE RAPED THAN WOMEN IN NANJING?!?!?!?

I think you lack reading comprehension. I was talking about there being more male victims overall, especially with regards to torture and deaths. Again, things like Nanking massacre are exceptions. If the government did know that an area would be occupied by the enemy, (which they didn't in Nanking), the women would be allowed to flee while the men would be forced to stay.

[–]StillNoFriendss 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

was talking about there being more male victims overall, especially with regards to torture and deaths.

You originally said that literally women are not gang raped to death in occupations. Complete, and total nonsense as everyone without an agenda to push would point out.

When I gave you examples that completey disprove that statement, you say "what about the men."

I didn't say there were no male victims in Nanjing, I brought it up to call you on your bullshit.

Pretending that there are no female victims in war, will not make male victims be treated more seriously.

Because that is what you are doing. We both know you know that the statement "Literally doesnt happen to FEEEEMALES" in regards to gangrapes commited against women in war is nonsense. Stop playing the fool its really embarassing.

[–]Net_Flux3 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You originally said that literally women are not gang raped to death in occupations

I was talking about how those numbers are negligible compared to men who get tortured (which includes rape and more) and killed. Women are typically allowed to flee during occupations while men are forced to stay with cases like Nanking being the exceptions where they didn't know they would be occupied. So yes, the cases you mentioned are indeed rare in typical wartimes compared to how often they happen to men.

[–]Leever5 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Sorry in the case of Nanjing SIGNIFICANTLY more women were raped. There is plenty of evidence of this online, so maybe you lack reading comprehension.

Your edit about them not knowing the Japanese were coming is bullshit and irrelevant to the point

[–]Net_Flux3 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

What? The upper estimate for the number of rapes in Nanking is 80000, not all of which were females while the number of deaths are 300000, majority of which were men/males.

Your edit about them not knowing the Japanese were coming is bullshit and irrelevant to the point

It absolutely is when women are trying to make it all about themselves, trying to make themselves out to be the primary victims when men are literally being forced to kill other men and are being blown to bits against their will the vast majority of the time

[–]Leever5 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Can you find any evidence in the Nanjing example that men were raped? I’ve explicitly seen then number as 80,000 women reported. Granted, I’ve seen stories that they lined up all the men and slaughtered them one-by-one which is horrific but I’d still take that over a brutal rape. I’ve read many accounts about how they were very particular about their raping- that any women over a certain age were held and raped with broomsticks till they died. Younger girls were raped for sex slaves.

The reality is that men die in war from conflict. Women get captured, fucked till they’re useless and killed anyway, or sold into sex slavery. A sad number of these are children. I would much prefer to be killed in war in the traditional sense than to be gang raped to death. But that’s just me and that other dude.

For me personally, I’d rather just be shot on the battlefield than gang raped till I die or sold into sex slavery. Sure, this might not be the case with the Ukrainian-Russia conflict - I doubt many Russians are capturing Ukrainian children to be raped and sold to sex slavery. However, in some places in Africa and the Middle East the reality is that women are raped more than men in conflict. There’s just no doubts about that. Crying “men get raped too in war” like sure bro, and women also die in the traditional sense of bombings and shooting too. So I don’t get your point?

Again YES men get raped too in war but no where near what women and children get. Especially in countries where sex with a man is against their god or religion but rape is fine. Again YES women die on the battlefield, women are in armies now, they are nurses, help staff, even fighters but men do face more frequent and serious violent war time injuries or deaths.

Why can’t everyone just agree that war is fucking bad for everyone???

[–]Net_Flux3 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Granted, I’ve seen stories that they lined up all the men and slaughtered them one-by-one which is horrific but I’d still take that over a brutal rape.

You sound like someone who doesn't have much going on in your life or never worked hard to get somewhere in life. Most men, especially accomplished men would gladly choose being raped multiple times over being killed but those poor men didn't have a choice. I would surely be in favour of the roles being reversed and have the men "suffer" more in war by having them be raped while the women get forced to kill each other and get blown to bits but unfortunately the world doesn't work the way we want it to. We both want the same thing. I'm sure a lot of women would think like you too. Why don't you then go and protest so that women get conscripted while men stay home? Physical strength is not as relevant in the battlefield nowadays either way. The women instead seem to be protesting for male-only conscripts.

Can you find any evidence in the Nanjing example that men were raped?

That's not relevant though. It's a fact that there were far more male victims than female victims there like every other massacre. I'd rather have a thousand people raped than have a single man killed. You might think the other way around is better. Again, people like you must protest for female-only conscripts to achieve your goal of "death instead of rape for females in war". I don't know why most women are against it. It could definitely be implemented if it had enough female support.

Women get captured, fucked till they’re useless and killed anyway

Nope. Most women can get out relatively unharmed if they act smart and cooperate. They don't get killed if the soldiers want more from them. That's not a luxury which men have. And even this is during the rare cases where enemy occupation is not expected. In most cases women just evacuate.

Why can’t everyone just agree that war is fucking bad for everyone???

No. That's just another way for females to make everything about themselves with the typical "females have it the worst" rhetoric.

[–]Leever5 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You should like someone who doesn’t know how painful it is to be raped. Like I said, I’m with the marine. I’d rather take a short, sharp death than be raped to death. That’s me tho.

It’s not because life isn’t worth living, it’s just that I’d rather be dead than raped a few times a day for a few years. What kinda life would I have after that? Not worth it IMO

[–]Net_Flux3 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

raped to death

Again, it literally doesn't happen to women who act smart and the soldiers don't have to enforce it violently.

short, sharp death

Not how typical deaths in war are. You'll get hit by a projectile, lose a few limbs and wait for your death on the ground with your guts hanging out while watching other mangled corpses of your comrades.

I’d rather be dead than raped a few times a day for a few years

Which place and time period are you even talking about? Even the most in-demand prostitutes rarely ever have multiple customers a day. Why would random "sex slaves" (not even a real thing, at least in present day) have so much "demand"? They would at most get raped once and then they leave.

This is such a biased subject. Men are the ones that made these standards. They are the ones that declared that men, and ONLY men were equipped for the rigors of war that they keep starting. Men were the ones that enforced the idea that the women and children need to flee in order to hopefully survive and maybe continue the culture. Why did they did they do that? Because of the horrific things that they knew OTHER MEN WOULD DO! Why? Because they knew it happened on their side too and they considered themselves the good guys so.....

There are comments in this thread that are dismissing literally thousands of years of proudly documented wartime atrocities committed by men. Nobody forced them to record these things. They did it because they wanted to, they wanted to brag about it and they left it to annals of history in order to preserve the prestige they felt like they gained from it. There are guys on here being like "men get raped during war too!" Yeah, they do. BY OTHER MEN you fucking idiots.

Be angry at the other men that have made it this way and stop fucking blaming women because men have spent thousands of years trying to make this world the way it is and have succeeded. It's pathetic. There's only one guy on this whole fucking thread that is saying anything realistic and he's getting down voted to hell.

[–]brai117 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Men are self victimizing

so, when a woman, rapes a woman. it's women's fault?

those in power should be held accountable as people in power, especially when they abuse that power.

do you have any idea how small and detached from reality the demographic of men in power is from normal everyday men?

you are so misandristic, that even when men are the victim, they are not aloud to be recognised or helped because another man was the perpetrator.

can you see how absolutely nonsensical and stupid that opinion is to hold?

men get raped, "yeah by other men, so men are evil" is the man who got raped evil? do you really think men want to be drafted into the nuclear tantrums of powerful manchildren? fuck no

. Why blame women????

see this is what I'm talking about, all we dispute in this article is that men are the prime victims of war, men, fight, men are killed, men who survive are never the same.

women, flee survive. they live.

and you can't even let us dispute that, you can't even let us say, "hey, wars pretty fucked up, but men being literally forced to fight to the death in brutal and horrific ways is a bit worse than becoming an immigrant"

"men aren't victims in war cause those in power force them to fight happen to have a cock too"

that's utter bullshit

[–]Irys-likethe-Eye -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men are the overt perpetrators of war. History has no problem proving the statistics. These aren't my opinions. These are documented facts. And the article clearly states that women cannot always flee. "Survival" comes at a wretched price. They"get to live" under constant threat of torture.

War is completely fucked up. I think the premise of almost every war in history is utter fucking bullshit. I think the draft is archaic and criminal. I think it's completely fucking shitty we as a species for thousands of years have taken what is essentially children and forced them into battle for something that likely will not benefit them in the least. I think it's ridiculous that men/boys face charges if they don't sign up for the draft. I think it's beyond ridiculous that it has been this way through multiple cultures for those same thousands of years. I think it's beyond ironic that it's men who have not just instituted the gendered standard but tried so hard to gate keep it, yet yelp about the injustice of that same gendered standard.

I have no problem at all recognizing the atrocities men commit against one another but blaming women does nothing to address the issue. The "what about" comment you make regarding woman on woman rape is not pertinent to this conversation. Did you read the article? The abuse of women has been a war tactic used by men for millenia. Once again, not something I'm fabricating to bolster my narrative. There is a reason there are so many stories told about women sequestered away with children as their homes are attacked and being found dead, having killed the children and themselves rather than being taken.

I am not the cold person you are painting me to be. I am not a misandrist. I am a history nerd though. You are displacing the point of blame and it does nothing to rectify the problem. I am fully cognizant that the masses are directed by the elite few, would you care to go over just the countries mentioned in the article and point out the woman who is pulling the strings that is causing so much suffering for these poor men?. Why disregard the truth? In the same way you are asking me why I just can't see that some men are victims of this system ,which I do, why do you have to be like it's only men that really suffer when there is nothing current or in history that supports that singular point.

The call is coming from inside the house.

And yet you dismiss all the fucking wars women have started and instead blame men for every single one of them. News flash dumbass. Women leaders are 27% more likely than men leaders to start wars, therefore are also more likely to send men (and even boys) to fight in wars. - https://t.co/awlVPwdN02

Not to mention women/feminists campaigned for the white feather, forcing men (and once again, even boys) into fighting in wars and shamed them if they didn't. Feminists don't give a fuck about the male only draft existing yet cry when people suggest women should be drafted alongside men too, so they can have EQUAL RESPONSIBILITIES as men. Feminists also don't give a fuck when men die in wars. They only give a shit about women, despite being the minority of victims.

https://t.co/BxAXpf0ot1 - Women/feminists supporting the white feather campaign.

People in here talk about men being raped during war because you morons never shut up about how women are raped during war to deflect from the fact men are almost exclusively the ones who die during war. As well as constantly ignoring when men get raped during war, despite it not only happening to them a lot, but likely far more often than it does to women.

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2011/jul/17/the-rape-of-men - "Men aren't simply raped, they are forced to penetrate holes in banana trees that run with acidic sap, to sit with their genitals over a fire, to drag rocks tied to their penis, to give oral sex to queues of soldiers, to be penetrated with screwdrivers and sticks. Atim has now seen so many male survivors that, frequently, she can spot them the moment they sit down. "They tend to lean forward and will often sit on one buttock," she tells me. "When they cough, they grab their lower regions. At times, they will stand up and there's blood on the chair. And they often have some kind of smell." Because there has been so little research into the rape of men during war, it's not possible to say with any certainty why it happens or even how common it is - although a rare 2010 survey, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, found that 22% of men and 30% of women in Eastern Congo reported conflict-related sexual violence. As for Atim, she says: "Our staff are overwhelmed by the cases we've got, but in terms of actual numbers? This is the tip of the iceberg."

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/nov/03/revealed-male-used-systematically-in-libya-as-instrument-of-war - "Male rape is being used systemically in Libya as an instrument of war and political domination by rival factions, according to multiple testimonies gathered by investigators. Years of work by a Tunis-based group and witnessed by a journalist from Le Monde have produced harrowing reports from victims, and video footage showing men being sodomized by various objects, including rockets and boom handles. In several instances, witnesses say a victim was thrown into a room with other prisoners, who were ordered to rape him or be killed. The atrocity is being perpetrated to humiliate and neutralize opponents in the lawless, militia dominated country. Male rape is such a taboo in Arab societies that the abused generally feel too damaged to rejoin political, military, or civic life."

https://theindonesiandream.wordpress.com/2011/03/02/men-the-hidden-victims-of-wartime-rape-nyt/ - "AS disturbing new reports of male rape in Congo made clear, wartime sexual violence isn't limited to women and girls. But in its ongoing effort to eradicate rape during conflict, the United Nations continues to overlook a significant imperative: ending wartime sexual assault of men and boys as well. Sexual violence against men does occasionally make the news: the photographs of the sexual abuse and humiliation of Iraqi men at the Abu Ghraib prison, for example, stunned the world. Yet there are thousands of similar cases, less well publicized but well documented by researchers, in places as varied as Chile, Greece and Iran. The United Nations reported that out of 5,000 male concentration camp detainees held near Sarajevo during the Bosnian conflict, 80 percent acknowledged having been abused sexually. In El Salvador, 76 percent of male political prisoners told researchers they had experienced sexual torture. Rape has long been a way to humiliate, traumatize and silence the enemy. For many of the same reasons that combatants assault women and girls, they also rape men and boys."

https://www.dw.com/en/unhcr-widespread-rape-of-syrian-boys-and-men/a-41671211 - "Victims have accused armed groups within Syria of carrying out mass rapes, with sexual violence often occurring in detention or prison facilities. One focus group of refugee women in Jordan estimated that between 30-40 percent of the adult men in their community were victims of sexual violence while in detention in Syria. A Syrian Refugee called Sami, told UNHCR, "A man would never speak of this. Why should he? We know that everyone in jail is raped - it is normal." However, outside Syria, there is a danger of opportunities in countries of refugee. The report noted that there is concern that the high rate of child labor among Syrian refugee boys, which, for example, is 94 percent in Jordan, leads to sexual exploitation and rape. Refugee boys and men have reported that some employers refuse to pay wages until sexual acts are performed. It has also been found that boys in countries of refugee are often targeted by older youths, with accounts of rape occurring in refugee communities on a daily basis."

But none of these matters to assholes like you because it's most likely mostly or exclusively men raping other men during war, therefore men are the problem for what the top 1% of men do to them.

In a sense don’t they? Our suffering ends the moment we die. They have to live with the suffering and hell that comes after. A simple solution would be to include women in the fighting, but thats also sexist, apparently

If you think living is worse than being literally dead then that is easy is solve, just kill yourself.

Y’all really don’t get my comment, it’s a philosophy in an attempt to deter war, and to deter the idea that there’s glory in dying in combat. Dyings easy, hell, we’re dying just to do it!… surviving’s tough, you have to both Cary the weight of those who died, and those who have lost, by why must women complain when they refuse to share the burden?

[–]Fearless-File-3625 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago* (8 children) | Copy Link

Lmao you just gone full Hilary.

If women don't want to share the burden of LIVING then then why don't they pick a gun and fight on the frontlines ? I promise you that BURDEN will be removed from their shoulders quickly.

Shame on you dude, shame on you. You and your pathetic attempt to minimise the sacrifices of men.

Bruh that’s what i just asked, you not reading? And only thing different between me and Clinton is that i know what im talking about, oh and im not rich, and oh i support mens rights, aaaand i didn’t create the verb “epsteining”. I’m not minimizing the sacrifices of men, I’m properly highlighting the idiocy of war, but feel free to try again

Explain how this is different from Hilary saying women are primary victims of war because they lose their male relatives ?

[–]Arzakhan -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

How? Well, for starters women aren’t the only victim. Children, older men, disabled men, depending on era, gay men. The victims of war are the survivors of war. Hilary said it as a moron whose sole intent was to cause division, my intent? Create philosophical discussion that, ultimately, leads to a conclusion that the issue isn’t a segregated draft, but a draft, and the need of one, and any situation that would ever call for one. We all agree men being the only ones in the draft is wrong, but we miss the bigger picture in every debate

What about the average man ?

The victims of war are the survivors of war.

What about the dead ?

Nobody is missing the bigger picture, we all know that draft is a violation of human rights BUT it is next to impossible to abolish it. The best we can do is make it gender neutral like Norway and Sweden.

[–]Arzakhan -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The dead don’t suffer, their dead. If your religious, their in paradise, if you aren’t, then they’ve ceased to exist. Nothing but a name, and a bunch of memories for everyone else to carry. There’s absolutely no reason we can’t abolish the draft, after all, drafts decrease the quality and effectiveness of militaries, only increases the amount of bodies

[–]Fearless-File-3625 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Dying itself is suffering you buffoon. 🤦

Who told you draft is ineffective ? Conscripts are highly effective as meat shields, every dead conscript is a saved professional solider. If they weren't we would have abolished it long ago.

I hate that these articles are so divisive, can we not just agree that all war is terrible for all people involved?

[–]Sexy-beast-20 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Absolutely disgusts me. This just shows how deluded, spoiled/privileged they are. That they can have the audacity to whine while men are being bliwn to bits, limbs bring blown off and these brats find a way to make it all about them as usual. As usual making everything about gender.
