For anyone just reading the title and not the article, the conviction was for trying to extort him by demanding $10 million under threat of filing a false rape claim. Edit: and trying to escape imprisonment. I don't see anything in the article about the breakdown between how much of the 3 years was for extortion and how much was for attempted escape.

She was actually sentenced for trying to extort him on threat of falsely accusing him, but still it relates to false allegations.

The Depp case drew a lot of attention but I think many women may think the average guy doesn’t have the resources to sue like Depp did. Cases like this are important because they show women being held accountable even when their victim isn’t a rich celebrity.

She wasn't sentences to 3 years for the extortion via false rape allegations, instead she was sentenced to 3 years because she attempted to escape after being found guilty but before being sentences.

Women should not be allowed to just get away with light sentencing for this bullshit. It's false allegations and extortion and she has ruined that man's entire life by just making a fake accusation of rape. Shit like this should result to 10 years MINIMUM and the women should be forced to pay reparations to damaged image/reputation and court costs. Minimum fine should be half of their value, not money, their entire estimated estate value. Time to nip this bullshit in the butt and stop false rape accusations.

Take the number of years on a sentence the man would've got if he was convicted of rape, and give her that sentence instead.

Preferential treatment hurts actual victims as well as the accused, make it truly about equality.
