I’d call myself a feminist, I think men and women deserve equal rights, and that bringing down the patriarchy would help everyone a lot more than they think. Within feminist communities I have often seen guys (ranging from fairly progressive to full blown misogynists) speak there opinions about whatever women’s issue is being discussed.

What I often see is men who have the idea in their heads that all women are showered with compliments and unconditional love on a regular basis, from my experiences at least this is so incredibly far from the truth. I’m a trans woman, so obviously my experiences aren’t always the same, but I’m friends with quite a lot of cis girls, who agree with me on this. None of us get complimented regularly, like at all, I often feel lonely and sad, and so do a lot of the girls I know.

A message which resonated with me from one of the various woman-focused subs is that a lot of guys only think of attractive women, the girls who look amazing and get a ton of guys asking them out, and that the less (conventionally) attractive women are often overlooked, because some men see them as unimportant, I’d be interested to here from you guys, because I really don’t know where this idea comes from. I’m asking here since a lot of y’all have very different politics than I do.

I don’t want to be that girl on the internet who gets hella mad when people disagree with her, so I’m just interested as to where this idea comes from.
